I was bitten by one of my gila monsters in the late '70s. It hurts! He was captive raised and habituated to humans but remained touchy. The other one never tried to bite in the 33 years that I had him. Every animal is an individual.

I like how this is presented, as being your mistake. It's important that people realize that wild animals demand respect and that if you go out and handle them, you only have yourself to blame if you get hurt. So far, I think you're doing a good job, and that you're clearly doing what you can to live up to that responsibility. I respect that.
