I have enjoyed CB Radios for most of my life! I have one in my Jeep and one in the Big Truck! I also have 2 more at home and some different parts such as SWR Meters, Brackets and that kind of stuff! I just got my first Ham set up yesterday and I'm going to try it out! :)

The drawback to cb is that your limited to 4 watts and you have to have a really tall cb antenna or use an illegal linear just to be heard more than 2 miles away. I love ham radio cause you can talk 100 miles in every direction with a repeater at 5000 feet. Even 2 meter simplex works better than 4 watts on am cb and fm is way clearer. They should let you run at least 25 watts on cb without a license new out of the box.

Hi Martin, I'm brand new to Ham radio & have been doing research. My Dad had a CB so I'm familiar with them but didn't know the exact differences. I live rural & the previous owner was a Ham Radio operator. All of his equipment is gone but our location is on a high ridge near "coincidentally" a large MARCS tower. One of the highest points in the county. Wish the previous owner was here to talk to because I betcha he had excellent transmission & communication. I'll stay in touch & hopefully one day I'll be able to transmit ;)

I'm 15 and I just bought a cb a few days ago. Don't have the antenna and I don't even have the power cord for it but I'll see what I can do about that

FYI - That Midland 75-822 will not work on the rubber duck antenna that you have connected while you have the external power adapter attached to the bottom... it will disconnect that antenna and use the external connection. It only works when you have the battery attached. So dont try transmitting on it the way you have it setup unless it is attached to an external mounted antenna... you'll fry it.
