Hubble Space Telescope FINALLY Discovers INCREDIBLE New Galaxy!
Показать описание
Over the years, scientists have been exploring space, trying to figure out what exactly is out there. They've put a lot of technology out there to explore the vastness of space. Telescopes have been launched to try and figure out what is beyond the eight planets in our solar system. One such telescope is the Hubble Space Telescope, which has been making discoveries ever since 1990. And to date, it is still making some great discoveries, such as an entirely new galaxy.
Hello everyone, and welcome back to our channel. Today, we are going to take a look at the new galaxy that the Hubble Space Telescope recently discovered. But before we go any further, please take this moment to leave a like and subscribe to our channel for more amazing updates on what’s going on in space. And with that, let’s find out more about this new galaxy.
NASA has had its eyes on space from here on Earth and in space. With the help of the Hubble telescope, NASA has discovered so much about space for years. Each year they learn something new about space, and the same has happened this year. Not so long ago, the Hubble telescope discovered a new galaxy. That makes two galaxies that have been discovered in one month.
The most recent galaxy that the Hubble telescope has discovered is the Caldwell 5.
The space agency claims that the Caldwell 5 would have been one of the brightest galaxies in the sky if it were not for the fact that it is hidden behind so much space debris. Given the fact that it is relatively close to us in terms of space, it would have been quite bright. According to NASA, the Caldwell 5 is about 50,000 light-years in length and, like any other galaxy, billions of years old.
Before we go on to the second galaxy that was recently discovered by the Hubble telescope, I think we should appreciate the telescope’s feat in discovering Caldwell 5. Ever since the Hubble Telescope was launched in 1990, it has been NASA’s eyes in space, making some of the most extraordinary discoveries there. It has been in service for more than 30 years now. However, the discoveries in space are now being taken over by the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), which was launched on December 25, 2021. Right now, the James Webb Space Telescope is still being tested and aligned so that it can start its journey this summer.
The Hubble telescope mainly orbits at around 550 kilometers above the earth, while the James Webb telescope orbits in the halo orbit, which is about 25,000 kilometers above the earth and 832,000 kilometers. This ensures that the telescope is far enough from the Earth and the Moon’s shadow.
The Sombrero goes by a variety of names, such as "Little Sombrero," "NGC 7814," or "Caldwell 43." Thanks to NASA’s Hubble telescope, astronomers have been able to view and observe the Sombrero galaxy in all shapes and sizes and from almost all possible angles.
The sombrero was discovered a very long time ago, as far as the 19th century. During this time, the astronomers speculated that the Sombrero was mainly a disk of luminous gas that was surrounded by young stars. However, in 1912, astronomer V.M. Slipher made the discovery that the hat-like object, which was drifting away at a speed of 700 miles per second, could be some sort of galaxy. These were just some of the earliest clues that were there concerning the Sombrero galaxy, and they also led to the belief that the universe is expanding in all directions.
The Hubble Space Telescope is fixed with a "Fine Guidance Sensor" and a "Pointing Control System" that aims Hubble in the right direction. With the help of the Hubble Space Telescope, scientists have been able to discover new galaxies and stars, though they are not really new because they are billions of years old.
Another galaxy that was yet again discovered with the help of the Hubble Space Telescope is NGC 474.
NASA explained this, saying that this could be a result of NGC 474 absorbing smaller galaxies surrounding it. The scientists here believe that this could have happened billions of years ago. However, nobody really knows how the tidal-like shells formed around the galaxy.
NGC 474 is about 100 million light-years away from Earth. The galaxy is also measured at about 250,000 light-years across.
The Hubble telescope has made lots of discoveries for more than 30 years now, and it is still going on by the looks of it. What do you think of the latest discoveries? Feel free to let us know in the comments section below.
