Learn how to program your Home Link Garage door opener buttons on a Toyota car. Learning what buttons to push to link the door opener to your garage door can be confusing. In this video I show you how to connect your garage door opener to the home link buttons using my Toyota 4 runner and the garage door remote.
The steps are
1-Make sure your garage remote is programmed too your garage door opener.
2-Clear the existing program on the home link by pressing 1 and 3 for 10 seconds, until you get a green light
3-Hold the remote next to the home link and Press the garage door opener button and the Home Link button you want programmed simultaneously until the light turns green, about 5 seconds. (the door will move during this because you are pushing the garage remote.)
4-Press the Home Link button you want to program repeatedly until it opens or closes the garage door.

WARNING: These projects can be dangerous, posing risks of personal injury, or property damage, and in some cases, death. There may be the possibly other risks of which I am not fully aware. Use of video content and or website information is at your own risk.

Thank you! Thank you! I’ve been trying to reprogram using my Toyota manual and NOWHERE does it give me these details! Your advice allowed me — in seconds — to reprogram my Sienna to match my new home’s remote. 1:00

I had to do these steps on my Camry, once the buttons synced then I had to set my opener into learn mode then hit the home link button. Took me a minute to figure out the correct combination.

I had to lock my car then unlock and press buttons 1 and 3, then press button two to get the flashing going. Then hit my garage door opener’s learn button and come back and long press the button in the head rest I wanted to program. Then pressed it again and my door closed. 2019 5th gen 4runner here. Seems like the sequence is different for many.

I don’t have this same overhead configuration in my 2023 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro. I have open and close and on the right side have up and down. 4 buttons total.

Will the button still work as well after programming the home link?

My 2024 rav4 only has a single “door” button. Didn’t seem to work but I guess I’ll dig out the manual.

Does the garage clicker have to stay in the car after programming??
