Keep in mind that some amps mute the signal when nothing is plugged in to the input jack so you might need to plug in an unused cable or a spare plug just to trick it. Had this happen with a Blackstar amp before, not sure if other brands do this too.

On another note, I bought glow in the dark paint to drop in the tiny indicator holes so I can see the settings better. Just a thought, next edition.

i've always found distortion pedals to sound like they're on 11 whenever ppl plug them into the front of their amps. Lately I've gotten a much better tone trying such pedals into the FX return like in this video without the coloration of the Amp's preamp. Also you can try plugging your distortion pedals into your computer and straight a Cab IR loader. Cheers!

Long time ago (when I didn't know as much about this stuff) I tried to use distortion pedals as preamps by plugging my guitars as usual in the input of the amp and putting the pedals in the FX loop.

But not connecting the guitar straight into the pedal.

It didn't sound good but well, at least I know now 😅

What about connect chug in a pod go or something similar.
Or even straight to a FRFR speaker, as the pedal is a preamp too.

If i already have a KMA Pylon Noise Gate, with a 4 Cable Method, where do i put the Chug? Tried it between The Pylon Output and the FX Loop Return, but that sounded horribly squished...

how can I record such setup without using an actual cab? do I need a loadbox and than go from there into the interface and use an ir in my daw?

What if I already have a eq in the fx loop? Where do i place the chug as pre amp?

i think my fx loop is broken because it wont work if i use this method or when i put my guitar in front of the amp and put the revv g3 to the fx loop

if u DONT have a tube amplifier you can get the same result with a modeling or ANY solid state amplifier by connecting it to the mp3/ line in input, you may need a 3.5mm adapter for this !

If you're using the CHUG on a Fryette PS-100 as its preamp, would it be best to place it in front of the power amp or go the effects loop route? Thank you.

How would this pedal work if it was fully plugged into the FX loop. Like if my signal chain was guitar, to overdrive, to amp, then FX send to chug, and then chug to FX return?

Oh, that's weird. I get a loud, clean volume when the amp is turned all the way down. Reverb pedal isn't working, using this route. Delay works. Both Marshall pedals. Gate works nice until i turn on my carl Martin Compressor Limiter. I get a hiss the gate doesn't see. Using a cheap Joyo Zombie II.

Just out of curiosity, who plugs a distortion pedal into an FX loop of a Mesa Boogie dual rectifier to bypass its preamp section? Is that a real thing that anyone actually does?
