When Zero Two died, she became a tree, similar to the one they’re currently under. When Hir02 are reincarnated, they meet again under that same tree. I feel this conversation is one that’s happening now, but also thousands of years later when Hiro and Zero Two meet again. It makes sense, mentioning that Zero Two said she kept their promise.

This show could have been one of the greats, and it kinda was until those later episodes. The great story and incredible relationships were all there. The way they handled relationships is still one of the best in current anime. Unfortunately it will be remembered by the giant 02 space battle with aliens. But it was one incredible journey that I wont forget. I wish they would make something sort of like NGE with The End of EVA movie (would be ironic since this show is heavily inspired by EVA) where they make a new ending, preferably one with time and care put into it...

people hating on Darling in the FRANXX don't understand the deeper meaning of this anime. Yes it might not be "perfect" for you elitists, but for newcomers it offered an unforgettable experience. Especially the character of Zero-Two. The elitist complain about how she is overrated and how there are better waifus out there, but they are blind for the point. The relationship between 02 and 016 is something a new anime enjoyer may well be looking for: the meaning of life. 02 literally gave Hiro a meaning to his life, and that's what makes the relationship so special.
