Rather than buying lots of makeup, better invest in best ones. Beginners mistake: buying matte foundation (you'll have a hard time applying because they tend to set quicker and get cakey easier); buying colorful eyeshadow (you won't use 90% of the pallette); buying gel eyeliner (it will dry before you used 1/4 of it); buying matte lipstick (if you're beginner you better avoid it, recommended color for your first lipstick is the color of your gum, same for blush on), buying eyebrow pencil the same shade as your hair (go for one shade lighter). Invest in: sunscreen (never skip it). Always blend your makeup (brush your eyebrow after you filled in too), but you don't have to blend the powder just light tap it on your face. This is because beginners usually don't know how to apply smoothly, you don't want to looks like a caricature.

Edit: just wanna say that I'm happy to discuss makeup with you guys 😊💞 also, makeup is there to enhance our natural beauty and it's for fun, you don't have to be stressed out finding the "perfect" makeup. It's totally okay to do the opposite of what I said and experiment more if that's the look you're aiming for and make you happy!

As someone who has been wearing makeup for 9 years now and was the person that people went to for beauty advice in school, YES. I agree with pretty much everything said in this video. I wish I had this video when I first started when I was younger, so I didn't have to watch countless videos just to get one tip that is actually decent. I'm glad that makeup newbies watching this video won't have to pore over the internet for hours, searching for product recommendations. Not only that, but you also gave high and low-end suggestions! TBH, the recommended products in the video are classics in the beauty community and while still good, there are products out there with better formulations and ingredients. But this video is great!

this came at the right time. i've been planning on buying makeup now that i'm 20. it's basically a new decade of my life and i want to start it off by learning new things and getting back into old hobbies that i love. one of them is doing makeup, which i must admit that i failed at multiple times but now that channels like these exist, i will finally learn how to properly do it. i'm basically in my lim jugyeong era, lmao

Great video, very helpful! But it's important to apply the appropriate amount of sunscreen even if you're also wearing primer, you should just wait a few minutes between applying sunscreen and primer and you're good to go :)

It would be great if you guys could make a newbie guide to all the different types of makeup brushes! They can vary so much in size and shape 😳

Another important thing to remember is that you can pick which makeup to put on. Figure out your features and pick what makeup to use to complement them. You dont need to use all the steps. Some people only do eyebrow and lips and skip the rest. Sometime less is more.

When buying drugstore makeup, I feel like I was about to do my makeup by myself easy and simple, but things got a little fiddly and messy, but with this guide for a makeup novice like me, I feel it was way too easy for me to follow! Thanks for the guide and the best finds I could buy!!

I've always been hesitant to buy makeup products despite wanting to wear makeup because I don't know what I exactly need and what's good for me. This video gave me more confidence to explore and buy makeup products and gave advice I need to know beforehand. Thank you for this guide <3

The one tip I could give to new make up junkies outta there is to.. Match your make up kit to your way of life and how you would usually want to look everyday!!
This is my mistake.

IF you are a lazy bum or has a busy schedule that make up is easily forgotten, focus on products that lets you be quick and be done with make up.. Like tinted moisturizers, concealers with doe foot applicator (the same applicator as lip gloss), cream blush, lip tint, simple mascara, simple setting powder..

IF you have all the time of the world, want to make a statement each day, wants flawless look or is willing to put on effort on doing make up.. Then you can dive into full fave foundations, eyeshadow pallettes, powder blush and contours, baking powder, liquid eyeliner.. Any make up that tends to be friendly to editorial looks, drag looks etc

i started wearing makeup around 2 years ago and to everyone who is overwhelmed, i recommend starting with a few products and building up your collection as you get more comfortable! my essentials for everyday makeup are: eyelash curler, liquid eyeliner, mascara, eyebrow pencil, gel eyeliner (to tightline my eyes), tinted chapstick. concealer is optional if you have blemishes :)

makeup starter kit for myself :

1. primer : oil controlling or pore blurring(pea size amt)
# don't rub or smudge, just apply it in outer single direction
# let it set for few mins before moving on others

2. Foundation : sheer liquid or cusion compacts or full cover formula (cushion or bb cream better for beginner)
# apply at the center of ur face then blend out from center to outer region
# should have thick layer on the inner & thin at the out region (creats contouring effect)
# apply & blend out foundation by section & move to another

3. liquid concealer : match with foundation shade

4. base setting : loose powder or setting spray
# loose powder with powder puff
# remove excess powder before applying
# for matte look : settings spray - loose powder
# for dewy look: loose powder - settings spray

5: Brows : brows powder
# comb out brows before filling them in

6: Eye-shadow
# matte colour pallet with neutral or earthy tones with shimmers mixed

7. eyeliner : eyeliner pencil

8. mascara

9. Contour & matte highlight

tips :
# avoid matte products
# lip gloss > lipstick
# use least foundation on nose & forehead
# use oil based primer for oil base foundation & water base primer for water base

when you use foundation, use the least on your nose and forehead. For extra coverage, spot conceal and blend. If you put the same amount of foundation on your nose and forehead as your cheeks, it'll look heavy really quick.

3:10 also you don’t need to wear foundation, you could just jump to concealer right away for a more natural look.

For beginners I highly recommend not using matte products because its hard to control especially for lipstick. Just use lip gloss until you really comfortable. Gel eyeliner is waste of money if you're not used to it so just use your eyebrow pencil to draw your eyeliner. You can also use your eyebrow pencil for contouring.

Hey! Kinda random recommendation but since I haven't seen anything on the topic on your channel yet, have you considered making a video about how to apply the techniques on darker skin tones? For some things it doesn't change, but a lot of colors straight up won't show up on me so I'd love to have a guide on how to adjust to get the same effects of asian beauty techniques, just on darker skin.

I am a 16-year-old looking to get into make up, but with no one to teach me
my mother was never into make up so there was no opportunity to learn from her

i really like buying and using makeup, but i try to keep my selection of products small and simple. you’d be surprised at how little you need.

it’s tempting to buy every product you like the look of, especially when you see people with those massive makeup collections.. but trust me, its WAY more cost-effective to only buy things when u need them or when you run out of things. makeup has expiry dates and if you have too many products, you won’t be able to use all of them while they’re still nice.

i’m really happy with my selection because it covers everything i need while not being huge. this is what i recommend.

*eyeshadows*
i have one WARM neutrals palette which consists of tan, chesnut, orangey-red and brown shades. then i have one COOL neutrals palette which has taupe, grey and brown shades as well as some pale shimmers. finally i have one colourful palette, it has 16 rainbow shades and is perfect for when i want a to have bit of fun.

*other eye products*
i own one eyebrow pencil with a little spoolie on the end, one dark brown eyeliner and one mascara. that’s honestly all i need.

*face products*
one cream concealer, one cream highlighter in a natural moonbeam shade, and one translucent setting powder. i don’t use primer because good skincare prep will do the same job, and i skip foundation and just use concealer instead.

i don’t own any blushes, you’ll see why when i explain my lip products.

*lip products*
for natural looks, i own a few tinted lip balms. i have two sticks which have a slight dewy finish, and three ones in squeeze tubes which are super glossy. as well as that, i have a lip and cheek tint which has a weightless watery texture and leaves a stain.

for matte lips, i have two matte blurring lip tints. one vibrant coral red for warm toned looks, and one rosy mauve for cool toned looks. these also leave a lasting stain, which is nice.

the final lip products i own also work perfectly as blushes, and are the following. one satin-finish lipstick in a rosy mauve colour, and two soft matte liquid lipsticks, in a natural peach colour and in a fresh pure pink.

i don’t end up using the soft matte liquid lipsticks as lipsticks as the shades are a little too light for my lips. so, instead of wasting them, i repurposed them as blushes and they work nicely. the trick is to blend them out with my concealer.

okayyy well that’s all lol, i hope someone reads this and find it helpful <3

I started using makeup since 2017 but I still consider myself a novice. Since I mostly used base, eye products and lips, I knew I still have a lot to learn. Thank you for this video!

Never ever skip sunscreen! Sunscreen everyday on face and body even you’re staying inside. Sun damage is scarier and harder to fix than you think. Start using sunscreen as soon as you can.
