Linux Essentials - the MOST Important Certificate (that you probably shouldn't get...)

We're kicking off our LPI Linux Essentials series! If you've ever been curious about Linux, or afraid to even ask about Linux -- you're in the right place. This course doesn't expect you to know anything about Linux or Open Source, and by the time you watch the videos, you should be confident enough to know exactly what Linux is, what it can do, and whether or not you love it or hate it!

Oh, and the actual certification from LPI? If you want to test yourself and get an IT cert to add to your resume, by all means go take that exam. But just knowing the stuff we cover is probably enough to get you started in the Linux world. We'll do other cert prep stuff where the exam and certificate will really benefit you -- but it's OK if you just learn this stuff for fun.

I've been using linux as a daily driver for about a year and a half now, done lots of configuring and customization, taught myself vim and bash, and even set up a GitLab server at home (and yes, I did devops myself into many uncomfortable situations). I'm pretty sure I know *most* of the basics, but preparing for LPIC-1 is probably going to help fill any leftover gaps. Longer-term I'd like to aim for the beefier RHCSA cert as I really enjoy this kind of thing, enough to want a career in it.

I think you could have gone a little more in depth on this video series Shawn. I just took the exam and there were questions that weren’t even covered in this video series. However, your videos did help me significantly!
