Hey guys! I'm Summer Meyers, homeschool mom to five kiddos, and we talk all things homeschool on this channel. Homeschool community is important to me--talking about homeschool and encouragement to be our best selves for our children is powerful. I love talking home education and really diving into what makes homeschool work. We are an eclectic homeschool, mixing Charlotte Mason, Wildschooling/adventure schooling, and Unit studies. I have kinesthetic learners as well as visual learners who thrive on being outdoors and soaking up God's green earth. I love hearing from other families who are choosing to school at home, so please introduce yourself in the comments! Being at home is hard, and taking on the education of our kids is even harder. Know that you are not alone in this journey and that you can do it!

I think the hardest part for my son .. if he were to go into public school is that he is talker... and does his work duper fast so he was always finished and disrupting the other kids... so he always remembers that so for now he doesn't even want to think of public school!

Oh man car pool lines.. I definitely don't miss that!!! So much work 😩 we were having breakfast the other day and watching the kids go into the bus... my son was like " I'd hate to be out there that early and with 10 inches of snow" and we were just observing while we ate our breakfast lol I was so stressed in the morning during my school days... I had so many flash backs right now!

Yes understanding why they want to go back is so important. Try to recreate what they miss or what they need added to their life.

I'm so glad that you addressed this topic, because this is a conversation that will come up in many, many homeschool families. I know that when I was in high school there was some conversation about whether I should go into a local private school for Senior year or so (to have that 'real diploma') and my opinion was always--no, thank you. I love my freedom. I had lots of friends in real school and I knew their homework load. haha!

I laughed so hard at your strategy about whenever you pass a school building.

I love this. It was a big decision for us to have the kiddos go back into a public school. The kids are thriving and loving it, I'm so glad we made that Decision despite the fact I would prefer homeschooling. Maybe one day we will go back to it. There is so many positives in homeschooling. Have I told you you are amazing! The kiddos are blessed to have you as their momma!

This is exactly the video I needed, Summer. We moved mid pandemic and haven't met any local friends for my 6 year old daughter. She's been talking about wanting to go to public school, because she's lonely. :( I think it's time to look into co-ops. Thank you for this video! Also, I love that you leave some outtakes in. You're my kind of person. ;)

We already give our 11 year old twins and 13 year old curriculum choices and I hope that I never get this question. I have socialable kids!!! We’ve always discuss how we will homeschool!!! My older kids skip busywork and if they skip something I think they need we speak about it!!! Those tips are awesome as I don’t want my kids to miss out and my youngest daughter won’t be getting the choice to go to school as we now homeschool!!!

I think if my son or daughter said they wanted to go to public school and they were at the high school age I would let them if that something that they really wanted to do but I would be praying like a crazy woman. I will say, recently my son has been begging me to start his own YouTube channel and it took a lot of time for me to buckle down and say OK I realize that if I don’t let them have things certain things, within reason, that in the future there may be some resentment. So I laid some guidelines down for him and he’s doing it on his own. I know this doesn’t have much of what we’re talking about this video, but it’s similar, letting your child be independent of you and make their own decisions is hard.

I do the same!!! Every time we go to the park we pass a school and I point out how those poor children have to stay in there until 3 and then come home and do homework!😂😂😂
