Do eBay Guitar Necks Suck?

In this video I check out a generic Fender guitar neck from eBay. I finish it, install tuners and give it a test drive.

I've used a bunch of cheap Chinese eBay necks and all of them have been fantastic. No problems, and they were better than the Squier necks they replaced.

I've been looking into making a custom johnny marr style jaguar for a while now but my dream was to have a rosewood neck with Peral inlays, and of course the only reasonably priced inlayed jaguar necks I could find where on ebay (the practically only alternative being a $400 custom neck on Warmoth.) Glad to hear that these ebay necks can hold up and I think I'll give one a shot, fingers crossed!

I’m putting together an eBay Esquire build currently and just got in an eBay brand roasted maple neck. I already have my cart built with the rest of the parts! Finger crossed that everything goes together well!

The biggest risk with inexpensive necks is the stability of the neck wood. I got a prs type neck from China. By the time I was ready to assemble the guitar, the neck had twisted and warped toward the bass side. It became unusable.

The biggest myth in the guitar world is that cheap guitars suck, and expensive guitars are always great. It’s just not true. for example, I have a squire strat that I paid 80 bucks for. When I got it, it sounded great and played great after a full set up. Then I put upgraded pickups in it which I didn’t really need to do because the ones that came with sounded great and I had a minor fret leveling done. I’m into this guitar for about $200 and it plays good and sounds good as any fender I’ve ever played. On the opposite side I have an Epiphone Les Paul that cost $900 and I’ve had for 10 years and never play because no matter what I do to it or how much I spend on it it never feels right and it never sounds good.
