I'm starting my "career" as an illustrator right now. One of the most overwhelming things about it is finding talented people EVERYWHERE you look online. Your channel is one of the best sources of inpiration to keep moving onwards, even though I have little direction of where I'm supposed to be going.

I went to see Beksinski this summer while visiting my family in Poland. His art is a huge motivator for my own and created a new chapter. The pitch black gallery where his art is displayed is amazing! The only lights were fitted spotlights on each painting and it made them come alive! So glad to hear his name mentioned

Sick new intro man!
I work as a commercial artist. Most of my work is about conveying a message as clearly as possible within a short a time as possible. It becomes more of a 'get it done', than an emotional piece. It becomes really difficult to break away from scientific illustrations and school book illustrations and architectural concepts to creating art that can resonate on a deeper level. Having said that, if you are like me the art part is a two way business, you stream emotion into a painting and generate peace and satisfaction from it in return. So when I work on commercial stuff for to long i start feeling very drained, then i have to put time aside and paint something that takes effort and time, so as to go through a little ritual cleanse or something. in short, i believe the food we get from doing emotionally charged art work is essential to breeding a healthy creative spirit! Thanks for the talk, 2018 balls to the wall!

An illustrator also performs and expresses emotion as theatrical actress/actor.
There are many talented artist in matter technichal skill, but you´ll only remember a handful because of the emotional impact, there´s something that resonates with you.
Will it be something pretty and fleeting? Or something deep and lasting?
With every skill you leran, reflect on how to use it to evoke emotion, the goal is to awaken a specific emotion in the audience. Every detail can be used to provoke it.
Empathy is important. Step outside of yourself and get into the mind and body of the characters you are portraying.

About halfway through this it became amazing!!! I am a fine artist that focuses on my internal state and feelings and projects that to create my artwork. So this is a completely different perspective for me. Thank you.😀👍

Great art touches someone's soul, that does not mean everyone will be touched by the artpiece, but when it does, it's magic. It does not matter if it's just a piece containing two lines or a photorealistic rendering. It's not about what people see, it's what the artpiece makes them feel that engages the connection.
As they say in marketing, even when it's about you, it's not about you. ;)

Thanks for the video Adam !

Yay, another art talk :D I really like your perspective on this - and I think you pin pointed why doing art is so demanding. It really does go way beyond “making something look good or pretty”. Expressing yourself always comes with a sense of vulnerability, and the emotional investment can be overwhelming. Yet, the art that speaks to us in an emotional way is the art that’s coming from a genuine place in it’s creator.

Amazing job on the intro man! also about the video itself It really spoke with me, I find that the technical aspect of an image is often times very simple once you know what to do to make it look real and nice. But damn to make an emotional image is hard! Amazing tips, for sure they gave me a new way of looking at it. keep it up sir!

This is so true. Unfortunately we only have control over our personal work.
I always hate it when "Directors/Leads" tell me to add something that doesn't add to the story of a place or even worse.. it takes away from it. Rather than the whole environment working together to create a powerful illusion it creates a themepark of different ideas.

That is the reason why i put myself into trance with music. It highly influence your results, my Artworks turned totally different out as i planed it. I handle my pieces as an energy-loaded craftsmenship, a paper/Canvas is en energy-loaded field wich infects (motstly) the viewer.
Great advice, Adam!
