Congrats to Katriel. Sorry to hear critters got into your truck wiring. Johnny x made ripping out the old roots and digging holes for the new trees a breeze.

That's was the perfect job for Little Johnny and very nice of you to go and help out a old neighbor and hopefully you get your trucks back up and running 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

A backhoe beats the heck out of pick and shovel any day.

The old homestead looks like a retirement home. No pond to deal with, no towers to mow, no truck eating squirrels. With all that "old Man" huffing and puffing, I'm surprised Rick didn't let you at least pick all the roots out of the dirt. Great video Tim and Christy.

Good morning Tim. Although I've watched your channel for several years now I've only commented a couple of times but I wanted to tell you that I really enjoyed this video today. It was nice seeing you get back to your roots. 😁😁👍 God bless and have a wonderful day.

A backhoe is way better than a Spud bar and a shovel and wheelbarrow.. Steve from WV

I never put fert on a new plant until I see new growth on it after it has been planted. Water daily for 30 days.

clay targets used in trap/skeet make great markers for hole digging. Laying out fence posts, marking and locating holes for shrubs, bushes and trees. You can lay them out and move them without painting or repainting. They are reusable too

This was a great video. Rick is hilarious. Treat the squirrels like the mice. Predators are the only way to get rid of the squirrels. A pew pew works also but you have to sit around and wait on them. My dogs chase those squirrels out of my yard everyday kinda funny to watch.

I take my Mantis tiller and use it to dig holes for trees and shrubbery that I plant. I dig down 18” or so and shape up the hole with a shovel. The top of my Mantis is below ground level and I shape out the hole twice as wide as the root ball or container. I mix a little bone meal in the fill dirt before I fill it in around the plant/tree.

Wow, I’m sorry that the squirrels invaded your trucks. I have them in my old pole barn and they sure are a pain. If you find a good solution, please share it. Blessings.

Tim, I use GreenHealth Peppermint Supreme. I pour it into a spray bottle and spray the underside of the engine bay and on the ground around the tires every two weeks. Prior to that the mice caused $3, 000 of wiring damage on my SUV, but none since.

Hello Tim and Kristie,
One thing that my wife and I did when we got our house and started landscaping the front yard was to not plant any trees directly under the power line that's in our front yard. We've been here now for 31 years and this year the power company notified us that they were going to trim trees. Anything 15 feet and under will be trimmed or cut down. The power company marked three trees, two to be cut down, and the other one to be trimmed. The tree to be trimmed is closer to the power lines, and the other two were farther away. I tried to contact the power company several times with no luck. The day the cutters came, asked them to cut down the tree that was closer and to trim the other two. The power company contracted the job to a local tree service, and they said they had to go by how the trees were marked. It didn't make sense to me to trim the closest tree and cut down the other two that were farther away. The closer tree was a volunteer that I wasn't able to cut down years earlier. In 2010, I became disabled and tree out grew my abilities. So remember, don't plant anything that will grow taller than 15 feet.
Love the videos. Keep up the good work, and God bless.

this looks like the work I was doing last week in my back yard except that under all the roots was someone's old trash pile. What a nightmare.

I use one of Boys axes to get rid of roots, usually my Council Tools Stainless one.

Plant it high or it will die. Also, we have an ultrasonic /flashing light gadget hooked to the battery that has kept the mice and squirrels away after their first invasion. I would have to remove it to tell you the brand name, but it was purchased by my wife on Amazon. It was recommended by the Subaru dealer and was easy to install.
