That seemingly random bit of info about Zebras became applicable real quick.

and if anyone in society stands out, he's a target. Jordan became the main target, but he's too intellectually nimble and astute. Bravo, man!

Only Dr Peterson could look at a study on zebras and apply it to university professors.

They kill the zebra that stands out.
I wish I knew this early in my career.

Yes, this is how people that “don’t fit in” lose their jobs.

I been saying this. I told my kids that they could be whoever they wanted to be but they better have thick skin if they wanted to go outside the lines

So true! Not only that, but they start picking on you if you stand out.

If every classroom had a Dr. Jordan Peterson, Canada would be unstoppable and unfathomably prepared for the future.

I genuinely wonder how many people even have the ability to articulate intertwined ideas like this on the fly like he does. It’s incredible

Very Well Stated My Very Well Stated!!! You come up with analogies that I don't know of anyone else that could!!! I've always used analogies to help explain something to someone in a way that they could understand better. You take that to such a high bar that I could never attempt to compete with you and your ability to be understood!!! That's a special talent right there!!! Most of the people publicly speaking THINK they are being understood and followed verbally, but they really aren't. Maybe 60% of the people listening can actually follow what they're listening to, but when you speak, you change that level of understanding to unrealistic and unreached before levels of understanding!!! I'm sure that at least 90% of the people listening to you can understand you completely because of this rare talent to be relatable and understandable!!! You're Absolutely Great Brother!!! Thank You For Caring!!!

That’s Camille Paglia! She was as “controversial” when I was in college in the late 80’s, as JP is now. She said a college girl who goes to a frat party, by herself, wearing skimpy clothing, and getting blackout drunk, isn’t at fault for getting raped, but shouldn’t be surprised either, and women need to use some common sense. But it wasn’t as controversial to say then, as it would be today, and she sold a ton of books.

This is one of those amazingly simple observations that float right past you all your life until you hear it like this and think, "How did I not ever hear this before???"

This is fact. When I left a company that was doing very very well at minimizing waste and rework, to move back home due to parents getting old, to a place that was many years behind on these issues, I did all I could to give them ideas that were easy to change and little to no cost to do. Just needed some changes in behavior and a few more steps added to the process. This made me stand out in this way. It only seemed to make people resentful towards me.
Others that came a few years before me had said they had given up on giving ideas. But I'm a bit more hardheaded, I guess. But after a year and a half of being resented, a new president came in and asked why we were throwing away things that I had mentioned to the plant manager many times and all of the sudden the ideas I had been harping on started to happen. I've been here for over 2 years now, but there's many more inexpensive changes that still need to be made. I was a plant manager at my previous job and have made these changes over the 20 years I worked for the other company producing the exact same products on similar to almost exact same equipment.
It's really hard to stand out. People will resent you and try to make you look bad for doing it. Change is always an evil to those who like things just the way they are. Even when those changes would make their lives easier at work. They just don't understand.

Ps.
Some of these changes were as simple as installing a female plug into a cabinet and a male plug on the heater wires. They currently have the wires running straight through the cabinet and inside it to where it requires the machine to be shutdown, locked out and rewired while we are pulling the product coming down the line off and stacking it into a cart to rework later. If doing what I mentioned, they would only need to unplug the heater, pick it up out of the heater box, drop the new one in and plug it back in. This would take less than one minute to do. Yet they continue to put the machine down and stack rework to the side for 15 to 20 minutes while they rewire the heater the hard way.
