‘The most knowledgeable ‘ often lack empathy and compassion. A world run by robots.

I think the hope is, whatever system we use, there’s a way to vet people who come to power to show they can help as many people as possible to achieve a comfortable and meaningful way of life. Lately, the democratic system vetting process is failing to judge using morality or legality. It may be using the idea that those judged harshly by the system are actually better for those who feel betrayed or also judged harshly, deceived or failed by the present moral/legal system in place. I am doubting technocrats will change this situation for the better, especially if the only path to power is money and any kind of knowledge as practiced by whoever steps up. There’s no way of knowing or choosing that person’s intent and once they’re in power how can they be displaced if their actions are harmful to the citizens and planet?
