Lincoln Riley will make a great Penn State offensive coordinator in 2026.

I legitimately question how loyal I would be to college football right now if I wasn't a lifelong Oregon fan who is currently enjoying my team being able to take full advantage of the financial free-for-all that the sport is at the moment. If I were a fan of a team that WEREN'T in such a fortunate position currently, and was watching my best players get stripped away by richer, more popular schools, I might be close to tapping out by the time the Portal takes my favorite players from this last season...

I went to LSU with Shaquille O'Neal and was a big basketball fan at the time. Simce the "one-and-done" era I quit caring about college basketball, even LSU.
Football is heading the same direction. They will lose lots of fans unless they fix the transfer rules.

I appreciate the love for the Pop Tart Bowl. I liked the video because of it.

what’s happening to USC right now is karma for destroying the Pac-12. even if the commissioner didn’t get a deal, he challenged to get equal compensation with the SEC. but in today’s world of free agency with tampering, you have one bad season and it’s gonna be very hard to keep core pieces on the roster. you finish 6-6 and the next year you might be even worse. Oklahoma and Mississippi State are more examples, except Libby chose Shapen over MVB.

I used to be an avid college football fan but it has left me behind. I used to enjoy watching my team year after year. Coaches would recruit and develop players over their tenure. Players would improve as their collegiate career progressed. Teams would build off last season, others would decline as their special group of seniors would graduate. Now coaches run around like fools chasing money with green dollar signs in their eyes. Players change teams more often than their underwear. Rosters change so much year to year I can hardly know any of the players when the season begins. Big universities with money to spend can attract top tier players with NIL. Small universities get robbed of any hidden talent they find or develop. College sports used to be for student athletes but now some players wander around playing college football for 7 years. Bowl games used to be a privilege but now most players sit them out because it means nothing to them and they don’t want to get hurt. Lastly, if you want to watch your team you have to subscribe to 10 streaming services and pay 200 dollars a month.

Josh, am I missing something… Why are players on playoff-bound teams entering the portal? Don’t they have 5 days after the game to enter the portal? Why bail on a team that you worked hard for and got development from before the finale. Is it enrollment or eligibility issues? It truly doesn’t make sense to me. Please explain.

I bet Josh says backslash instead of forward slash intentionally, but it gets me every time.

I’m legitimately struggling to stay interested in my favorite sport of all time. The roster turnover because of the NIL money floating around has nearly made it impossible to know who’s even playing for the team. Arkansas kept Pittman to keep stability in the program, but we probably would have kept more starters if we would have fired him and quickly hired someone else.

"In the absence of real leadership, the wrong people snaked their way into positions of leadership and got their hands on the wheel and drove the thing into the ditch." That explains so much about so much to be honest, Josh.

I'm afraid these positions of leadership do not look appealing to good people with pure intentions anymore, the job is just not worth it. Just like you said - they're busy doing good work.
The weak minded people, unqualified they may be, are also weak enough to pursue these positions even if they have to go sacrifice their morals, if they have any.

The vibe around LSU was for sure a lot worse after Bryce Underwood (and Kade Philipps) flipped. Felt like we got dumped the night before prom for a richer girl. Lol ouch. As an LSU fan I was definitely worried. BUT...then BK and staff kept the ship steady and kept plugging away... much better spot. Hats off to them

It’s not the playoff that has me thinking of walking away but the transfer portal. It’s all greed and no loyalty. Contracts and caps needed. Glad you mentioned that bit about true leadership. So true

I'm 55 and been watching/loving college football since I could talk. One of the things that drew me in was the feeling of belonging. This was MY team from MY state. I knew the coaches and the chants and cheers, and even though the players were there for four years max, I knew everything about them. Now, not so much.
Not so long ago when you made the commitment to play for a team it meant two things. First, you WANTED to be there. It meant something to you to put on that particular jersey and to play for that school. Doesn't mean it always works out, but it does mean everyone on the team played for each other and the university. Second, it meant you were actually committed. The signature meant something, and you were there for the long haul.
Now? Players 'commit' and then immediately begin shopping themselves to the highest bidder. Coaches have to recruit THEIR OWN TEAM every year alongside convincing high school players to join, and players can choose to redshirt THEMSELVES during a season. We just saw a backup QB whose team is in the playoffs jump into the portal for God's sake.
The sport I've loved forever has changed far too much for my liking. The questions is, at what point do I, like the players and the administration of this mess, simply stop caring too? I know some of you are laughing hysterically because you think any time my team's jersey goes on a field to play I'll watch, no matter what. All I can say is I've watched fewer games this year than ever before in my life. There IS a line for me, believe it or not, and I suspect I'm not the only one. I hope they don't completely ruin this before I get pushed over.
My toes are on it now. We'll see I guess.
