The only reason I know how to use that $80 module is this channel. Seriously, everything I know about the systems in that aircraft, I've learned from your F-16 playlist. Thank you!

Self-guidance from launch without master vehicle assistance is a "Mad Dog", Self-guidance after half distance from master vehicle is a "Pit Bull". Great video though!

As usual Cap your vid is the only one to explain everything in great detail which answers my questions. Thank you for the hard work you put into your vids.

I'm new to DCS and I find Cap's videos explain things so well even I can understand them.
I've been struggling with radar modes and how to fire AIM 120s.
Thanks Cap for helping me.
Incidentally it was you and GS that made me buy a gaming PC and an X52 joystick.

So now that you have me dropping GBU-10's all over DCS (My first laser guided drop!), it's AMRAAM time.

You are THE best DCS channel there is. Thank you! Your videos are so enjoyable to watch, and very much appreciated. 😎🙏🏼

Thanks for another great tutorial! I always go thru all the tutorials for each craft but they are just not clear enough. These tutorials are invaluable.

You never fire when you have friends around. True..got kicked from GS server cus my missile started following my bud as he overtook me 😂

my understanding of radar activation range.
12:38
F16: range from ownship to target when AMRAAM goes active
the F16 manual is saying the range between airplane and target at which AMRAAM goes active (pit bull). But you have to remember, this is BEFORE firing the AMRAAM, so the range between airplane to the target is ALSO the range between AMRAAM to the target.
a very simple way of understanding:
if you fire outside of this range, AIM120 takes Axx seconds to go active (pit bull) then Txx seconds to hit. if you fire within this range, AIM120 starts off ALREADY active (pit bull) and takes Txx seconds to hit, no Axx time to active.
but weirdly i think it doesn't work, cause theoretically when your Axx goes to Txx, you should be right on the radar activation range but it keeps dipping down. maybe it takes a second for the aim120 radar to start tracking eventho it doesnt rely on the plane anymore.

You can also switch stations by using the Missile Step button, which is the same as Nosewheel steering in A/A mode. Lot easier than pressing an OSB tbh

I do think that it's possible to fire SST, thus guiding it all the way in (in BMS it is - maybe they'll implement it later)

3:14 These OSBs share functionality with your Nose Wheel Steering button on the Stick. If you press SHORT this button while you're in the A-A Mastermode, it will do the same as pressing these OSBs. Pressing it LONG should cycle throught the different types of missiles you're carrying. But someone said this function is not yet implemented.

6:09 Here the DCS module starts differing from Falcon BMS in Radar Functionality. I'm not sure if BMS has this Situation Awareness mode. At least I've never used it. In BMS it has the RWS, TWS, VIS (which I also never used) and STT modes. You cycle between RWS and TWS by pressing TMS Right LONG. In TWS the Azimuth of the radar scan is reduced from 120 to 60 degrees, with the sweep area centered at the Cursor (until it reaches its gimbal limits). And at least in BMS, if I switch to TWS while my cursor is on top of one contact, it will pre-lock that target automatically, and the next 4 or 5 contacts in range of my scan will be automatically set as secondary targets. I can toggle between these targets with TMS Right SHORT (or is it TMS Left SHORT, can't remember that at the moment. I'll have to check that in BMS).

If you press TMS Up on the primary target in TWS, it will then fully lock it in STT. Pressing TMS Up on a locked target in STT will un-lock it but keep it as primary target in TWS (if you were in TWS prior to the STT) and pressing TMS Down in STT un-locks the target completely and goes back to the previous mode with no target selected.

While in RWS you can also change the Azimuth in two different ways. One is via the Off-Screen Buttons on the MFD. You've already showed this method in previous video. The other method is with the TDC Slew. You slide the cursor all the way to either side of the screen and pass beyond it. When it crosses the edge of the radar screen, it will come back to the center, but this time with the different scan azimuth. By default, the FCR is enabled with 120° azimuth, when you cross the edge, it will cycle to 60°, and if you repeat the process, it will go back to 120°.

yeah i think my comment from the other video still stands that it is significantly harder, or impossible, to notch a modern radar for any longer than 1 scan bar. I think it would be an interesting test to find out if how hard it is to notch and the conditions it would require.

OMG - TLA (three letter acronym) overload! JSL (just started learning) TMK (too many keybinds) Might have to go back for some RNR in the yak (y'all kiddin')

Great video. I think the SD10 seems to be a better missile compared to the AIM 120.

Nice video thx for your efforts , humble opinion .... i would fire the 120C with a 20 degree Climp rate at 450knts or i would had a 5k Feet higher angles to help the energy of the 120C
