DCS: F-16C Viper - Track While Scan (TWS) Radar Mode

FOR NEXT OPEN BETA UPDATE

This is an introduction to using the Track While Scan (TWS) radar mode of the F-16C. This is a useful mode to build situational awareness in air-to-air combat and guide multiple AIM-120 AMRAAMs simultaneously.

The most important commands you will be using are the HOTAS commands for:
- Target Management Switch (TMS) Forward
- Target Management Switch (TMS) Right
You can find these in the Controls/HOTAS category

With the Viper TWS mode ready to go for the next Open Beta, our team is now developing TWS for the Hornet.

I hope the next order of business on the Viper is the radar gunsight. Feels like a strange and basic omission that can’t be that hard to add given the knowledge from the Hornet.

Anyone else notice Ex.lights?Stoked and cant wait for this patch.my assumption for this this parallel patching Technique is one-short staffed, two they can get the popular Modules complete and out of the way so they can focus on more important things with the game.things are looking great atm imo.i think we can all agree it would be nice to have fully patched Hornets vs Vipers in MP servers.

Wags you guys at ED are doing an amazing, awesome job! As someone who has been into this hobby since the mid 1980’s, I really appreciate where we are now compared to the early days. I’m also a real world private pilot who still enjoys flight sims and DCS World is a dream come true! Loved Jane’s and the Falcon series back in the day. I purchased just about every DCS EA high fidelity module and love the Hornet as much as everyone else. Please do consider ending your constant responses to the whining babies here, who have nothing better to do than complain about xyz and why the Viper got TWS before the Hornet. It gets old! You’ve explained it well more than enough. Thanks for your hard work. Let the immature babies whine until they grow up!!!

So as I understand from the best information I can find the Track While Scan (TWS) radar mode, initial data link, external lights and centerline fuel tank will come out on and around the 27th of November 2019 or with the next Open Beta. The DCS: JF-17 Thunder is expected around December 4th, 2019. Hope that helps anyone.

Hi Wags,

I noticed that when there is an AWACS on the field, the automatic designation for TWS track files when I press TMS Right does not work . I have tested it and when de AWACS dissapears, automatic track files dessignation pressing TMS Right works again...

Could you said us if this is a bug or thats the way it works?
