The Longest Wheelie Contest on Youtube

I put together a collection of videos I have taken at the Byron Wheelstand Contest from 2012-2024 to make The Longest Wheelie Contest Video on Youtube. This is nearly an hour and a half long so sit back and enjoy the non stop action of Muscle Cars competing in a Wheelie Contest for $10,000 dollars and the bragging rights to be the winner of this historical event at Bryon Dragway in Byron, Illinois.

One thing to note is that this long video is missing the years 2013 and 2018. I couldn't make it out to the event in 2013 and in 2018 the event was rained out and never happened.

I made this video on Christmas Eve 2024 and wanted to say Merry Christmas to everyone and hope this video gives you some enjoyment while you are off enjoy the Holiday Season. Thank you so much for watching and I hope you have a great New Year!

Back when Bigfoot 2 and Bearfoot were the only Monster Trucks out there, my step dad and mom had an engineering company that made equipment for Alaska.
During rough times after getting sued by Caterpillar for our “Cat Tracks” ( likely after a Kingdome show where we put them on a Truck Puller rig ) we built
Santanimal for Santana Trucking .
My step dad proposed a wheelie truck with Hydraulic powered wheels and hidden block of steel in bed and another in rear “Aluminum “ bumper”.
Hydraulics moved the block on a track until the truck would rise up and sit on the rear wheelie bars .
You could shut it off and leave it that way, easier oil drain .
The Truck also had a 427 and used twin hydraulic pumps for left and right wheels to move with joysticks like a tank.
You could barely turn it so wasn’t very useable.
Each wheel had a German hydraulic unit that was fed with 2” hydraulic hoses by aeroquip.
Loud truck, think it was a Ford F-250 camper special and made cover of Peterson’s 4 wheel and Off-road magazine in the 80’s.
I sure wonder how different things had gone had we had the internet and smartphones back when we were still using Rolodex (ask grandpa) and phone books .

The orange AMC Gremlin at the 3:48 minute mark reminded me of my old ‘75 Gremlin that I ran Super Gas 9.90 Bracket that I owned back in the early 90s…

So what's the record to beat for this event?

I was kind of assuming that all of these vehicles would have the engines in the rear of the car.

Man I mis Byron1 I think it was 2011, maybe 2010, not sure, the Gremlin flipped it completely over on its top from torque, about 100 feet out. The black 60 Impala was one of my favorites also, and the High and Wild chevy 2 Nova. Does Pastor Randy Hienzworth still Chaplin out there?

another ridiculous unsanctioned event, people crowding the starting line, and even a child running loose on the track. This is unsafe and stupid. the tracks insurance should be canceled.
