Holman KJV Study Bible In Black Goatskin: Full Review!

Great review.I bought this Bible 3 or so years ago and it is wonderful. The gap between the book block and leather spine is same as mine and it is sturdy. I truly like this Bible and the quality and the print. It is chock full of articles and illustrations. If there is a very minor downside, it would be the squared off thumb indices. Not quite as easy to use as those of the crescent shape. Self-pronouncing names would have been a plus but not really necessary. But overall, a most excellent and useable Bible. I also have the hard cover NKJV version from Holman. My other study Bibles are the Nelson KJV and NKJV and Evangelical (NKJV) study Bibles as well as a Schofield 1917 (Church Bible Publishers)(KJV) and Schofield lll (KJV)from Oxford. They all have strong points. There are many differences amongst them regarding the notes. Why so many? To cross check notes.

The red in my ancient faith study bible is the bomb, they nailed it. But I've seen that infamous orange text you mentioned.

I had the old version. I loved it soo much that I got all the three sizes 😂. The normal one and the large print and the personal size unfortunately due to its unavailability i gave off two of those smaller ones to my younger brothers.
The old one had a premium cowhide editin as well. That was amazing.

The notes sound perfect. I’m a HUGE ESV fan but want a KJV. This sounds like a great option I just wish it was in 10 or 11 font.

Does that Bible have the preludes to the Psalms cuz they took them out in the large print Bible

the red lettering in my Holman's is nicer than Nelson's red lettering as well.. I do not know why after about 200 years of publishing Nelson struggles with red coloring and spacing also.. many times their red lettered sentences run right up against the black or they are spaced too much... My red lettering in my Holman's is about the color and density .. of most Catholic red letter bibles.. a vibrant red..

My copy of Holman's Study bible is from 2012...in genuine leather and it may contain the same features as yours but mine is totally different as to how the intro pages are presented...for instance mine has the references in the center between the columns of text.. the also my study notes are in a 2 column format.. same as the bible text...also some of the essays are different for instance mine shows the last essay as ..

How do I know if any of my bibles have been made in China?

I have the old one but mine is in like leather soft. I like the Bible but where different contributors where made to different books I have found in this Bible strong verses that endorse Calvinism and then another book seems to be a little more Arminian in it's teaching. I guess where you have different contributors to different books it kindly puts a mixture of beliefs in it but all in all I like the study bible. This new edition looks nice great review as well!

I know exactly what happened with your opening pages... the reason the block is a little off... is because.. they accidentally gave you two inside blocks on that bible.. one must have slipped in unnoticed or when the machine was supposed to shoot 1 through before the bible was bound it shot two blocks through.. hence this is why that one block seems off... the machine was not set up to put two blocks on one bible...

My guess is that you will NEVER find another bible messed up like that... unless the machine was totally set wrong due to you people being trained.. but the extra block explains why the cover is slightly off... that bible is NOT supposed to have two block NO bible does..

The quality of these Bibles is far below the price point. I bought one about six months ago, it cost me over $160 and I had to repair it the minute I got it out of the box. I called the co. I bought it from and they basically told me I had to deal with Holman about it so I just took it as a loss.
The first thing I had to do was glue the front page together and the edges down as they weren't glued at all. After that, I had to glue the pages where they are supposed to be bound back on in three places. I also found several pages cut wrong as the pages had folds in them when the final cut was made so I had to fold those sections back out and try to cut the corners properly with a pair of scissors. 10/10 never buying another Holman Bible ever again.

I wish the bibles I ordered on line would come to me with the gilding in such great shape... most of the time mine come with scratches or discoloration on them... I think they ship me their rejects....

I have a Rock of Ages bible as well... but mine only came with ONE ribbon marker in Genuine leather...so I would not be touting this as a standard feature on Rock of Ages bibles.. unless you actually find other copies with 4 ribbons...

the complimentarian and equalitarian stance.. is One reason why I felt these notes a little on the liberal side.. there are tinges... of several other issues.. as well where I feel that Holman did NOT take a fully conservative stand... I also do Not care for the Nelson's NKJV study bible edited by Farstad for this same reason..
