This video by fitness expert Igor dives deep into core strength, explaining what it is, addressing common myths, and giving you actionable exercises.

Core Strength Explained

You'll learn that core strength is more than just a flat stomach or six-pack abs. Your core is a complex system of muscles that includes the diaphragm, pelvic floor, abdominals, obliques, and back muscles.

Core Strength Myths Debunked

The video tackles two common core strength myths:

Myth #1: Strong core = flat stomach.

Core strength and body fat are separate. You can have strong abs and still have fat covering them.

Myth #2: Strong core eliminates lower back pain.

While core strength can help prevent back pain, it's not a guaranteed solution.

Core Strength Training at Home

The video doesn't mention specific exercises, but it emphasizes the importance of challenging your core with sufficient force. Don't expect easy crunches to do the trick.

Core Strength Training for Beginners

The later part of the video discusses how to assess core strength and suggests core training may be beneficial if your core endurance is lacking.

Core Strength Training Goals

The video ends by asking viewers about their core strength goals (fat loss, back pain prevention, general strength) to tailor future content.

If you're looking for information on core strength training, this video offers a great foundation, explaining the core's role, debunking myths, and emphasizing proper training intensity.

Yes I need to know more about strengthening my core as I certainly can not do any of the exercises you showed.

Great topic. I found the explanation of which specific muscle groups constitute the core to be very educational. The information about the three key exercises associated with those muscle groups is also extremely useful and valuable. Thanks.

I will strive to hold the plank, side plank and back exercise for the times you mentioned. I can do each move but not for that long. I would like to strengthen my core and lower back more because I have had compression fractures in my spine due to Osteo arthritis for several years. Various forms of exercise certainly helps.

Another great video, thanks Igor. I would like to improve my core strength to make my paddling technique (Kayaking) more efficient and to reduce lower back fatigue during long bicycle rides and longer days of kayaking. If I can protect myself from lower back pain I am all for that too!
