A Fractal Model of the Conscious Universe

I’ve always thought in fractals naturally. Part of my Asperger’s, I suppose. Many, many hypotheses regarding the fractal nature of the universe are rattling around in my head. This should be good.

A few days ago, my daily studies inspired me to take down from my bookshelf (and dust off, lol) my copy of Erich Neumann's "The Origins and History of Consciousness." I studied fractals decades ago, and I am familiar with the popular image of the Mandelbrot Set. While Neumann's work, particularly his constant theme of the Uroboros (a culturally ubiquitous symbol of the Self, a snake that forms a circle by eating its own tail) I couldn't keep from thinking back to another book, "Godël, Escher and Bach, " by Douglas Hofstadter. The book by Hofstadter used the works of these three geniuses to show, in part, how feedback loops play some role in creativity, analogous to the way repeating self-similarity can generate fractals. I can't help but think that the Uroboros symbol somehow reflects a primitive intuition of this fact. Further, Neumann's thesis that every individual goes through a pattern of psychological ego development identical to the development consciousness of mankind as a whole keeps drawing my thoughts to the image of the Mandelbrot Set. One could also think of Plato's "Golden Section" to represent a proportion such as, e.g., individual : humanity : : humanity : God ... or some such like ratio.
