I'm having a WhatNot stream tonight - most things are already listed for sale, so go check them out.

What do you think about this refurbished steam deck from gamestop? Good deal or nah? I wanted to buy a refurbished steam deck from Valve to compare, but unfortunately, as of right now, they are all sold out.

Is this console worth the savings over a brand new one? Or would you rather buy a used one from eBay?

What a coincidence that this was uploaded and I was in Stoneridge shopping center in front of a GameStop lol

That trigger problem makes me feel that last owner might have dropped it to its corner and broken trigger may have been the reason to end up being refurbished.

I worked for gamestop refurbishment center. They actually use sandpaper on a lot of their consoles and controllers. They do use magic eraser, but the sandpaper is where the real marring comes from.

I got the 64gb from GameStop and it has been perfect so far. No noticeable blemishes or scratches. 1 to 2 percent dead zone on analog sticks. Upgraded the hard drive and everything is working great!

I bought a 64gb deck from GameStop yesterday and its literally in perfect condition.1% on the dead zones and no scratches. Seems like the refurbished units are basically luck based.

I got a refurb off of the official steam app and it had zero issues at all, I did give it prying marks by upgrading the SSD to 2TB but it is working amazing so far. It's my dream device

I use my steam deck all the time personally! Super great for JRPGs and any single player games really.

I’ve had my steam deck for a year now, and while the analogs are quite decent I’ve already worn out them from heavy use. They are very easy to replace and I ended up buying Hall effect sticks from gulikit and so far they have been pretty decent. You may want to replace the refurb deck with them and see if you like the difference.

Refurbished usually never meant that something is actually replaced. Just general cleaning and software update and checking if everything is working. Heck even smarthphone batteries arent replaced until they are under 80% of their original capacity. You might be right that they saw it as not worth to replace the joysticks. If you are techsavy enough to replace SSD I would recommend absolutely to buy refurbished ones, espacially 64gb and then replace and add 50-100 dollar worth ssd.

I love my Steam Deck. I play mostly docked but it's neat to play my PC games on the go. You can also get a reengineered version of Space Cadet Pinball from, I think, Windows 95 from the Discover application in desktop mode. That was a game changer for me; I played the crap out of that I was in high school

I realize this will not be the same for everyone but I got a 256 GB from GameStop and it looks in near perfect condition. I think it may have actually been new as well as when I first used it I got some Steam notifications about new inventory items.

I got one used off eBay £420 for the 512gb model and it was in perfect condition, depends on the condition of the one you get I suppose

I picked up a refurbished 512 from gamestop and it's been perfect, might as well have been brand new

I was under the impression these were furnished by Valve to GameStop, not typical GameStop "refurbished" handhelds. Valve's refurbs sold about a week prior. And iirc they also endorsed the refurb decks at GameStop when GS announced they were selling decks

Replacing the sticks does take 1 more step Tham what you mentioned. You have to unsolder the touch sensitive wire for the cap, and transfer it to your new module. Meaning, they would have to do soldering. Yes they make ones with new caps, and yes that would cost money. I'm purely referring to GameStop, what they would most likely do, and the fact you got cruddy sticks.

10% deadzone is massive and GameStop should of fixed that makes Steam look bad as a company imo

There's not a single day since first wave preorders arrived and I got mine that I haven't played it- *TO THIS DAY.*

Honestly, as a person who keeps himself on a very tight budget, honestly, I’d feel like it’s worth it
