Am a South African who might not be facing same struggle as Dubai but I would like to express how I feel about cloud seeding as geography student. Cloud seeding, though it might seem like a helpful tool to increase rainfall, carries hidden dangers that could affect our health and environment. Imagine chemicals like silver iodide being released into the atmosphere to make rain, only to later seep into our rivers and soil. Over time, these chemicals can harm fish and wildlife, potentially making their way into the food we eat and the water we drink. This doesn’t just affect the environment around us—it directly impacts our health, with risks of chemical exposure growing over time. And beyond that, manipulating rainfall in one area can mean less rainfall for others, potentially harming farmers and disrupting natural ecosystems nearby. While it’s tempting to see cloud seeding as a solution for droughts, the risks it brings may outweigh the benefits, highlighting a need for caution and careful planning.

As in the example of California, which is basically built in a desert, add millions of people and you will have water shortages. Dubai is just another example of the problem. Manipulating the natural environment IS climate change.
