A new program aims to help Fort Worth police officers avoid conflict.

This looks like a step in the right direction, but that's all it is at the moment. Nice words and the perception of transparency isn't enough, let's see if they actually follow through.

Nothing will change until they end Qualified Immunity. How often do Officers attend the Deescalation Class? Once, or yearly? How many Civil Lawsuits is the department currently involved in? What is the time frame between each Officers mental evaluation?

The reason for the change is citizens are fed up! So here another statement coming out to the public. Who would think you need training for officers not to escalate a situation, you think the goal would always be try to keep a claim demure when speaking to the public and try to have the situation go smoothly for the person and yourself where everyone involved makes it home. Let’s see if this is actual change or just any other statement put out by a department. You can’t change a bad apple on the force so let’s see if this department gets rid of those who are known for violate behavior when absolutely no cause for.

Quota hires over the past 50 years, along with imaginary oppression and a racist behind every blade of grass is what brought us to this point. You cannot keep hiring people who, for whatever reason, believe they are entitled to a position based solely on their sex, religious beliefs, or the color of their skin. I do agree that bad cops must be held accountable and/or fired. Qualified immunity needs to be severely cut back.

If they wanted to make a positive change, then release Manuel Mata. Falsely Arrested, and in jail for more than 2 weeks, the video shows he is innocent. Still in Tarrant county jail.

Hello Chief: Just two suggestions to half fix your mess:
#1 Get nets. Nets with outer rope ring and netting. Check fisherman's supplies. Like lassoing in old westerns, just drop it over the person. Should keep 99% of gun needs-ancient history.
#2 Love thy neighbor as thyself. Treat others as you would be treated. Gov't "of, by, and for the people": Notice anything here? These all are the same. They start with moral self-government and humility. The Rights that make America uniquely free result from God's property, i.e., all people, deriving God, not civil state, freedoms. The state is under God's law; it is a creature in chains. Chains? Yes, men are evil and depraved, angry for not getting their way (Cain).; the enlightened but godless and ruthless will deceive their way to power. THis is the parasite class that rules us today. They hate God and free men, because they crave absolute power. Retrain all your academies. Study Gunsmoke and the like. We know what policing with compassion looks like- noble men of honor and mercy. Matt Dillon got to snuff some mean mofos- the show is called Gunsmoke (somebody got force used against them). But Dillon never delighted in killing, and he never sought clashes. People are ruled by emotion or truth (law). De-escalation is futile w/o continual regrounding in what is righteous (legal). Otherwise it is just empty, secular religion lacking the power to change character.
Without the above as a minimum, you are just blathering political BS to get reelected.

Don’t they have the enhanced 911 system. In that system when you answer 911 the computer pulls up the address and all that but there is a tab of opened that’s where you can put in individual profiles . To include conditions, meds, allergies ect .. sounds like they just don’t know how to use the system, because the hole country is on the new system...

Typical police department MO is to remain quiet about it for 3-6mo until we all forget and it's business as usual.
