EW! WHAT IS THIS?! #arachnids

Harvestmen or Opiliones are some of the coolest little arachnids on earth! Despite many people believing they have venom or fangs, they are completely harmless and don’t possess venom at all! Have you ever seen a big cluster of daddy long legs like this before?

I used to raise them for scientific research and the species I was working with (P. opilio) will very readily take food right from your hands. Giving them each a little cricket leg with a pair of tweezers was often the highlight of my day.
Like “oh one for u good sir and of course madam one for you” meanwhile they’re like MUNCH MUNCH MUNCH.

Watching this made me realize that I used to see these everywhere when l was a kid. But now l don't even remember the last time I saw one. I wonder if all the pesticides and pollution is hurting their numbers?

I love spiders/tarantulas but harvestmen, nope. No, no, no, no, no. One of them can take down a tarantula so it's a hard pass from me.
