After Roy Jones Jr. went from light heavyweight to heavyweight and then back down, his reflexes slowed, and was never the same again. Tarver was lucky to catch him during this declining time for him. Antonio Tarver never really impressed me in my book, and
I knew Bernard Hopkins would walk right through him.
Plus he liked to talk a lot of shit, but could only backup very little of that. His final legacy in boxing will be nothing more than a footnote.
Oh yeah, and his part in a Rocky movie.

Roy Jones was not a real light-heavy. Super-human skills were allowing him to beat light heavyweights but there was always the danger of being totally starched by a lucky punch from a substantially bigger and stronger opponent. In Jones/Tarver 2, the laws of physics and the law of averages finally caught up with Roy Jones. In a perfect world, the guy would have retired before that happened.

Tarver definitely wasn't a bum but was annoying as hell and talked himself up as if he was one of the all time greats. I can see why someone would hate on him but he was an excellent light-heavy in his own right.

same here. he beat jones (a faded jones) fair the last time but that 2nd fight he was looking at the floor when he threw that punch. hes an OK fighter. nothing more.

Here's the deal on Tarver, he's not a great fighter really but he is strong and has reach, RJJ has been past hgis prime for years that was an easy win but Tarver isn't really that great Bhop beat him as an old man too bad RJJ couldn't do it too much weed and breeding pitbulls
