Spacing:
The average distance between a pair of eyes is the length of one eye.
Some times that distance is shorter -- meaning the eyes are spaced closer together.
And other times that distance is wider -- meaning the eyes are spaced further apart.

Average Eye Spacing --
The eyes are spaces one eye length apart.
Close Set Eyes --
The eyes are spaced closer than one eye length apart.
Wide Set Eyes --
The eyes are spaced further than one eye length apart.

Shape:
Eyes come in maybe different shapes and sizes; these are some of the most common.
Average -- The eye lid is visual from the inner corner to the outer edge in a smooth curved shape.
Celebrity -- Kim Kardashian & Cheryl Cole
Prominent -- The eyes can protrude or extend from the face and may cause a crease underneath.
Celebrity -- Katy Perry & Mila Kunis
Deep Set -- The eyes are set deep in the head the opposite of a prominent shape.
Celebrity -- Selena Gomez & Taylor Swift (Taylor's eyes are also close set)
Hooded -- The eyes are almost hidden by a heavy crease with creates a hood over the lid.
Celebrity -- Miley Cyrus & Jessica Sanchez
Droopy -- The eyes drop or droop slightly on the outer edge.
Celebrity -- Anne Hathaway

This is the best explanation of eye shapes I have seen ever! All the other YouTube videos and makeup articles/blogs are horrible at explaining it and often overgeneralize eyes shapes while you separate them into categories in which more than one scenario is possible. I'm so relieved to finally know. Thank you!!!

Just discovered your videos. 6 years later, this is still a very relevant video. Based upon your descriptions, I have eyes that are spaced further apart, downward, and deepset. I will continue to look at your videos to see if you address someone’s eyes like mine. I’m always perplexed how to best do my eyes.

Is it still classed as a hooded eye if I can see my eyelid shape when I look straight ahead in the mirror, but it appears to be quite small? Any help would be greatly appreciated x

I have realized that my eyes are little asymmetrical (unfortunately) Right one is more hooded and bigger ; and the other one is more like yours, normal sized, average and prominent. I just found that out and definitely now have to do two different types of makeup to reduce the asymmetry ! Thanks a lot for ur video <3

Im really struggling with eye makeup nothing looks good on me I think I have small eyelids I did what the video said (I have average) but I try cat eye and dramatic it looks odd on my am I doing something wrong or do I just have small eyelids I think the space between my eye and eyebrow is a lot smaller then most people ugh need advice

Average eye, prominent, slightly hooded(not a lot), and not droopy.. When I say hooded but not a lot, it means I can still see my eyelid when I look straight but if I add thick winged liner on my eyelid it will look like I have heavy hooded eyes lol hope that made sense.

I have the same width from eye to tear ducts (average). I also have down turned (If I draw an imaginary line from the inner corner to the middle of the pupil and continue outward, the outer V is lower than the inner) hooded eyes (no lid space on outer half).

apparently i have prominent eyes? what? but my eyes are super small... I always thought I had almond shaped eyes... arent there more eye shapes than just this?
