I just finished watching this movie. Let me tell you, the film has managed to capture a theme that has probably never been told this way. A woman's sacrifice in playing the role of a wife, and a mother where she loses dreams along with her identity had never been told in such a moving story. Its also about sympathy and kindness where two fates meet and change everyone involved. A solid must watch for everyone. This should win national awards

The title of the movie is " Lapata Ladies " Which means lost ladies but the main message behind this title is " The things and the freedom missing in women ". As we can see that jaya was eager to study about organic farming but this society didn't allowed her, phool was a good cook and she want to do something rather than just staying in home as a homemaker, bablu's mother was a good artist but her art got vanished after her marriage, Deepak's mother has lost her choices like her favourite food, Manju mai (one of best character according to me ) she had to survive alone just because she was brave lady and had guts to left her family . And one more deep message from this masterpiece is " Love doesn't need ages Even two days are enough" .❤❤

I’ve watched this movie twice in 2 days. I absolutely LOVED it! Such a beautiful, calm, brilliant piece of art! But I have something to say - these movies either talk about how women in rural areas are not educated, don’t take their husband’s name or it’s the small town girl- big dreams thing etc., . OR they talk about sexual and physical abuse endured by women (like in Highway), when the story is set in an urban setting. But there’s a topic that I feel NOBODY talks about, which is - “how women and girls in so-called urban, educated families are put down subtly”. They’re sent to school, they’re sent to college, they’re sent abroad, they go to work, they go out with friends, they’re NOT sexually abused by anybody. On the surface, it looks like they’re given the same treatment as their male siblings are given. Their lives look perfect. But the truth is that, most girls are not given the same treatment as their male siblings are, be it in a poor/rural/illiterate family or a rich/urban/highly educated one. For example, my own mom would do this to me - when I’m in a meeting, she interrupts me and when my brother is in a meeting, she shushes everyone. And she’s a professor. She’s not even the illiterate kind who doesn’t understand these things. I wonder if people even notice that. Only the daughter facing it understands it, perhaps. Very subtle bad treatment. VERY VERY subtle. And this is mostly done by women, biological moms! It’s not even like step moms do that. I don’t know if some movie has been made on this or not. If there’s no such movie, one should be made, I opine.
