I really really hope this film as well-made as Jeo Baby's The Great Indian Kitchen! The Malayalam film was relentless, riveting, and raw. The experience of watching that film stays with you for... forever.

I absolutely loved The Great Indian Kitchen - those suppressed emotions of despair and hopelessness from doing mundane work, while being the target of constant and consistent criticism.. the disgust from having to clean up everybody's used dishes... yet trying to be the perfect daughter in law by putting up a smile... the utmost lack of respect everyone has for you deep down (because no matter what they say and how many great things they say about you... you would never give your dirty dish to someone you really respect ) ... that movie touched a raw nerve. I went through the journey with her... becoming her in the process and cheered for the protagonist at the end of the movie.

Funniest thing was that I watched this movie while washing dishes (a HUGE pile of mess that everyone leaves and instead of helping they actually get annoyed that it isn't done on time and the house is a mess and it is always your fault even though you are the only one doing everything at once while also having to do office work because of course you need to perform there as well better than others to compensate for the fact that you are a woman).

Looking forward to this movie as well since the North Indian traditions will be hitting it even closer to home.

This story needs to reach wider audience. However credit needs to go to where its due, i.e. the Malayalam Film Industry that brought out such a powerful film. Never has anyone before showed the sad life of a homemaker and gut-punched the audience with its realism. I am sure many men of our country have felt uncomfortable watching it. It deserves to be remade in various languages or dubbed and subtitled, even for the foreign audience. I hope The Great Indian Kitchen gets remade across the whole world so that people wake up from the deep slumber and stop burderning women for houshold chores.

This is a significant issue that the filmmaker is attempting to highlight in both "The Great Indian Kitchen" and "Mrs." We must understand that both men and women should work equally at home. Just because a woman is a homemaker and a man earns money does not give him the liberty to avoid doing anything at home. We should go home and help our family members who do everything for us. Even small help can make them happy.
