*About this video:*
. This is an album of duets, sung by Ray Charles and Betty Carter. It was released in July 1961. Carter was born in Flint, Michigan and was a year older than Ray. Miles Davis recommended her to Ray, leading to a tour and then this LP.
Ray Charles and Betty Carter is another concept album: every song title includes words like "us", "we", and "together". Not only that, but the album even has a loose sort of narrative: It describes the playful and romantic courtship of a man and woman just establishing a new relationship.
This sealed copy of the album dates from the early 1970s.
The music on Ray Charles and Betty Carter is at turns romantic, jazzy, and frisky. The album took nine hours to record. It contains a famous version of "Baby, It’s Cold Outside", a number one R&B hit. That was the only single released from the album.
