Sometimes character development isn’t changing who you are but realizing who you are.

If you ever rewatch the series, you begin to realize how much Walt’s ego gets in the way of pretty much every single thing

What's perfect is the main theme playing at that moment. It plays only once in the show. Truly an epic moment

Breaking Bad at it's core is a tragedy. Like every tragic protagonist, Walt is ultimately undone by his core character flaw, pride. Every decision he ever made was driven by his own pride. It is what makes him such a compelling character.

Walter had such a big ego that even when skyler suggested to buy the carwash he disagreed, but the moment skyler said bogdan insulted him, he agreed.

One of my favorite scenes is towards the very end of the show when he goes to see Skyler again (after he's been found out) and he finally admits to her that it was never about the family. This is the first time in the show where he faces this, so it really feels like a personal revelation he's just experienced himself (ironically after essentially losing his family bc of what he's been doing in their name).

Crazy thing is by season 3 he has more than enough money to pay for the treatment he needs to save his life

If Walter and Gale just made a good ass coffee they all be living wonderful lives

When I rewatched the show it really hit me how much he ruined Pinkman’s life and had zero regrets on it. My heart broke for Jesse even more.

“Pride cometh before the fall” is Walt’s whole character arc. And I love every second of it.

I’ve always said the only time we see Walter truly different on the inside is in the flashback sequence where he’s young with Gretchen talking about the chemical makeup of the human body. His real change happened off screen when he left Gray Matter, wounded his ego and became filled with resentment. That resentment built up until it exploded out in the series.

that’s so interesting. it’s shows that crime and circumstance didn’t change him but actually just brought out his true self. which is way more scary

If you watch Breaking Bad first, you empathize a bit with Walt. But then you watch Better Call Saul afterwards, and you realize just how relatively “good” everyone was doing until Walt entered the picture.

Walter White never had a moment where he became Heisenberg. He always was.

The best part is Walter not only didn't grow, not only did he stay in place, he regressed in a way, he had the reverse progression of a protagonist

This character moment was actually just 5 entire seasons of a show

Walter had such a big ego that even when his DEA brother law thought he found Heisenberg in the form of Gale, he just couldn’t let him think that somebody was as brilliant as him. So in a drunken state he hints that Heisenberg is still out there.

A TV character moment that had left me speechless: "The entirety of Walter White's character"
