My grandmother was part of the pool of female typists and dictation takers pulled from various military headquarters and rushed to the deathcamps to take testimony from victims who were still alive when they were liberated but would not survive their experience so that their testimony could be used in the war crimes trials. She made sure to impose on us an understanding of the full horror of what the Nazis did from her own experiences. The most important lesson here is that we must never forget how EASY it is to do evil, and how far you can go down that slide into hell all while certain you are right.

My heart really does go out to the victims. I have visited the Holocaust museum in DC and was moved to tears. But I feel we are dishonoring the victims by creating victims out of Palestinian children.
