House paint for acrylic pouring?

In general, I do not recommend that beginner acrylic pour artists use house paint in their acrylic pours. Once they've mastered some basic pours then is the time to do more advanced pours like Sheleeart blooms and swipes or the types of pours that Sara Taylor does.

Thanks so much for this video David. I have been using house paint as a base and keep getting failed pours. I even thin down the house paint with floetrol and water and still am getting failed pours. I am going back to regular paint for the base coat and keep trying. I just appreciate you so much for all that you do for us.

Thanks so much. This video has warned me what to expect when I will try to use the colored house paints. I usually use Behre, but couldn't fined it so I am going to try the Valspar instead. Thanks for all of your videos. They make a difference.

I am cleaning out our basement to try to use up left over house paints. I am finding everything from enamel, latex, Rustoleum, and acrylic paints in Matt, semi-gloss, and satin finish. I loved this experiment you presented! I am trying to get good cell activity, lacing and pearl and/or cloud cells. I use pour, dutch, and swipe techniques. After this video, I understand that I do not want to use high gloss enamel. But my specific question is this: are there any specific types of house pains that I should NOT use? Due to chemical reactions etc. I hope to use Behr 3800 for my pillow action but I hope to use up some of these left over paints in the basement.

I read somewhere that house paints with acrylic don't last long before cracking, fading, or not in good condition. Have you experienced any issues with house paint?

I want to use house paint for the base because it’s cheaper and I scrape off and throw away a lot of my paint. I generally trash at least 3 before getting one I like
