Hey There Fellow Travelers! Just a note, I messed up and said sour cream on the Seattle dog, that is WRONG!!! It is CREAM CHEESE ON THE SEATTLE DOG... I ate it and it was good and it was definitely Cream Cheese :) Just wanted to make that note. My bad!!! Sorry!!!

I think you ment cream cheese not sour cream for the Seattle dog. Loved the video makes me want to go back.

I've been to Boston and Seattle and have had the seafood in both cities. I am a "King Crab" and Pacific Northwest Salmon guy, so Seattle is the winner!

As a Seattleite, I can confirm that salmon is the best thing we have. I personally recommend Ivar's Salmon House

I have to agree. WA still has a bit of an edge on BC when it comes to drinks (beer, wine, coffee, etc) but the drink AND FOOD scene in both Seattle and Vancouver are absolutely amazing and I'd recommend people visit both if they can.

I was born and raised in Seattle proper and can confirm that all of these things are correct. A tip for everyone: the city of Seattle is actually a very large area and the food all over the city is good so don’t feel like you just need to stick to what’s downtown.

Glad you liked Seattle!!
I also love going to Dick's to eat cheap! Purple is also a great place to go for a nice dinner. Lots of food trucks here too.
It's cream cheese they put on the Seattle dog. It's good!

Seattle food is awesome! I had the best fresh pear of my life there at the Pike Place Market. It was January, and the sellers gave out slices of fruit to passerby. I ended up buying a bunch of them and smuggling them home. So sweet and delicious!

For theater nerds, we have the Fifth Avenue and Paramount theaters which cycle through tons of amazing plays! I’ve seen Broadways Alladin and Lion King and oh my gosh they are fantastic!

I can't believe you didn't mention coffee. That's the main reason why I visited Seattle.

Oh my God the Teriyaki! We lived just outside of Seattle for a couple of years we had Teriyaki at least twice a month. Hand down the Northwest has the best foods by far. I actually got I to the habit of eating fresh fruit and veggies because it was all so fresh and tasty.

For anyone reading this in 2022 or after 😉… we live in Seattle, and although there are HUNDREDS (maybe even thousands) of restaurants we have not tried, we certainly have a few faves that we think anyone visiting should try…

1. Un Bien- get the Caribbean Roast Pork sandwich… it will change your life!
2. Tats Deli- known for their cheesesteak & “TATStrami” sandwich. 🤤
3. Starbucks Roastery!- amazing experience for coffee lovers, and they have amazing pastries by Princi Bakery!
4. El Camino- ah-mazing Mexican food and cocktails with flair!
5. La Carta De Oaxaca- another delicious Mexican restaurant (more traditional)

*Should be noted that, sadly, I am not a fan of Seafood, so I don’t have any recommendations for Seafood restaurants, but if you are, there are countless options for you!

**If you venture outside of the city, some of our fave places are:

1. Elemental Cider Co. In Arlington for the best pizza and cider!
2. Snohomish Pie Co in Snohomish or Mountlake Terrace for THE BEST pie you will EVER have! 🥧
3. Zab Thai in Everett for Thai food
4. Beardslee Public house for American food favorites and beer
5. Teriyaki Point in Arlington for the best teriyaki made with quality ingredients

Hope you try one of our faves and enjoy Seattle!

***I also 💯 agree with Wolter’s suggestions 😉

I remember being in an airport vip lounge in London that had a “10 best international wines” sampling & 4 were from Seattle. I’m not much of a wine drinker but I was proud of my hometown.

Seattle is a huge sprawling city with a lot of unique neighborhoods. If visiting, please don’t spend all your time downtown. It’s not the best area, and it’s overpriced.

Pike place market is really a landmark but it’s not the only spot, even in that section of the city. Though I do recommend visiting, getting a cup of coffee and sitting down on the other side of the market from what’s always shown.

The market is only about two stores wide (a couple blocks long) & people always film on the city side. on the other side is a breathtaking view of the puget sound & mountains. There’s a nice park at the end & a few interior cafes to relax and take in the view.

Please explore. The further you get from downtown, the more you’ll interact with locals. Ask them for recommendations.

Hawaii, Louisiana, Alaska & Washington are the best seafood states in the country but we have anything else you can imagine as well.

There’s a growing indigenous food movement. I know a Duwamish chef working to have her culture and it’s food acknowledged. There’s a long history of Asian, particularly Chinese, contributions to the Pacific Northwest and as a result there are fantastic Asian food options from higher end places like Sushi Kappo Tamura to inexpensive strip mall Chinese & teriyaki places.

The best breakfast diner/greasy spoon I’ve ever visited is Beth’s near greenlake.

The Burke museum & some of the other buildings on the uw campus have cafes & coffee shop open to the public with soups, chowders & random items prepared by culinary students. I pretty much lived off soup while attending. I’m not really a soup fan but it was cheap and they had something new almost every day. And, some of the students while I was there are now charging $60 for a cup of what cost me $3 for a bowl. If you are a foodie on a budget, always check out culinary schools in your area!
