It's kinda shocking how much more synthesized this sounds when compared to the live orchestra one in the final, especially when this is how it would sound in a Dark Souls game.

In the original, the first boss of the game was our friend who was desperately looking for a medicine for us, knocking at the gates of the cathedral ward, falling into madness, (maybe, being obducted by church and made into a beast) and I am probably not able to emotionally deal with this listening to this music.
Maybe Laurence in the final version is more important but in the alpha I think unsatisfying end of the first, pseudo main quest hits harder, as if the rest of the game was a revenge story.

This would go great as a final boss theme, enough additions, and a more hectic feel allows it to feel like a different song that evokes a different feeling, but with enough remnants of the final, calmer theme to be a callback, showing that you've come this far

This is incredible! Sounds like the Bloodborne World's take on industrial music - absolutely abrasive yet truly captivating!

The transition on 2:27 is the only thing I miss. The rest of the OST is incredibly saturated, and it really feels like they threw absolutely everything they could to build the first draft. Chants, whispers, screams, metal sounds, etc. It sounded really forced and artificial.

I prefer the one in the final game, but I admit there's a charm to the alpha version.
