📚🔬 **IGCSE Chemistry: Mastering Electron Configuration!** 🔬📚

Welcome to another exciting lesson in IGCSE Chemistry! Today, we're diving into the fascinating world of electron configuration. 🌟✨

🔸 **Understanding the Basics**:
- Every atom has a nucleus containing two types of subatomic particles: protons and neutrons. 🟡⚛️
- Electrons are distributed in regions called electron shells. 🌀

🔸 **Key Rules for Electron Configuration**:
1. The innermost shell can hold just 2 electrons, while each subsequent shell can hold up to 8 electrons. 🔢🔄
2. Remember these rules for your IGCSE exams! 📝📚

🔸 **Example: Boron (5 electrons)**:
- Distribute 2 electrons in the innermost shell. 🔵🔵
- Place the remaining 3 electrons in the outermost shell. These are called valence electrons. 🔵🔵🔵

🔸 **Connecting to the Periodic Table**:
- Boron is found in the second period, meaning it has 2 electron shells. 📊🔍
- The 3 valence electrons correspond to its group number. 📈🔢

Next time you draw the electron configuration of an atom, keep these two rules in mind:
1. The group number corresponds to the number of valence electrons. 🔢➕
2. The number of shells corresponds to the period number of the element. 📊🔄
