If using hibernate 5, use Configuration() instead of AnnotationConfiguration(). I know most people will figure this out quickly but hopefully this will avoid confusion for people like me who are just learning and got tripped up by this.

When you do finally run this, if you get a bunch of errors, make sure you use the dialect MySQL57Dialect, because that is the one which is compatible with the newer versions of MySQL.

For those who all are facing error on creating SessionFactory object ...use the below code . this is working.

SessionFactory sessionFactory = new Configuration()




Session session = sessionFactory .openSession();
session.beginTransaction();

// this would save the Student_Info object into the database
session.save(student);


session.close();

Hi in my log it says :
Hibernate: create table STUDENT_INFORMATION (rollNumber integer not null, name varchar(255), primary key (rollNumber))

How does hibernate know how to automatically assign these values ?  As I remember in the Student_Info.class I haven't assigned any values like that in the annotations.

It seems to me like even the following no longer works.

I tried it and I get an error with it saying it cannot instantiate the type Configuration even though I've imported it. It also thinks "configure" is undefined for Configuration (although that may have something to do with the first error. Does anybody know the solution to this problem?
