9 Common Ovarian Cancer Signs That You Should Never Ignore

Ovarian cancer is a disease in which cancer cells form in the tissues of the ovaries. The ovaries are two almond-shaped organs, located on either side of the uterus. They produce female hormones and eggs.

Ovarian cancer is hard to detect in its early stages and can spread quickly. Ovaries contain many small glands that produce and release an egg each month during a woman's menstrual cycle. The ovary also produces female hormones, such as estrogen and progesterone, that control a woman's cycle, fertility, and pregnancy.

In most cases, ovarian cancers begin as abnormal growths in the cells lining the surface of the ovary. These abnormal cells may eventually become cancerous if they continue to grow unchecked or if they invade other tissues or organs of the body.

Always amazed that high blood pressure is never mentioned as an early symptom. I was dismissed several times by multiple doctors because I had a partial hysterectomy in my 20’s. The high BP, bloating, fatigue, and eating difficulty were early signs. Only the HBP got attention. Each of these progressed plus night sweats and poor healing of cuts. This followed with weight gain/bloating (who knew) - my doc told me to eat less and exercise more and did not believe I was not over eating 😡 I was saved by a car accident that torsed my right ovary and created a blood clot - this sent me to the ER. I knew I was in trouble by all the extreme hustle. They scheduled immediate surgery but I had to wait 3 days because my electrolytes were so low.

Don’t be humiliated into not seeking multiple additional opinions - too many careless and dismissive docs - you know you best. Get the help you deserve.

BTW as soon as the surgery was over my HBP miraculously disappeared and my weight dropped.

My friend's family has a history of ovarian cancer. She was 26 at that time when she noticed there is a slight pain to her abdomen. She emmidiately call for an appointment and found a tumor on her ovary, its stage 2 cancer. The doctor gave her an option for treatment but she choose to have hysterectomy. She said it is better to have no children rather than giving birth to a child who has a chance to inherit her disease. Its already 6 years and she's still doing fine.

My liver helped me diagnose my ovarian cancer. I have NAFLD. Am post menopausal. Never had kids. My grandmother was thought to have had ovarian cancer, but we weren't sure. One summer day life was going on as normal. The next day I felt pressure on my right side below my rib cage. It didn't hurt, it just was like pressure. I thought for sure my liver was cashing it in. So I went to the doctor. Several doctors. For weeks, I saw several specialists, had multiple imagings done, specialists thinking it was an GI problem. I had all my checkups done and they were all coming back normal. Even a blood workup to look for cancer markers found nothing. But then finally my pap showed something odd. The OBGYN focused on that, and next thing I knew I was having surgery. Caught it stage 1A. Complete hysterectomy. It hadn't spread. Didn't need any treatment after. Am cancer free, but will be something I have to have monitored every year for the rest of my life. Had I not been worried about my liver, I would have never found it as I had no other symptoms.

I kept going to the doctors as I was suffering from stomach pain bloated pain in back, and they telling me it was IBS. I knew it wasn’t that so after 7 doctors over a couple of years, I asked to see a female doctor, she sent me to the hospital and I was at stage 3. I had to have my cells scrapped away. If I had listened to the doctors I wouldn’t be here now.

I am experiencing all of these symptoms but changed in menstruation because I had a hysterectomy 18 years ago. After watching this video, I think I need to talk to my doctor about it.

I had surgery six years ago due to a fist-sized endometrial cyst. The gyne doctor initially thought Of ovarian torsion but surprised when they cut me open, it was stage 4 endometriosis. Suffered from endo symptoms for the past two to three years not thinking that a tumor is also growing in my ovary. Just recently had hysterectomy due to Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer... had my first cycle of chemo more than a week ago and waiting to complete 5 more. Please, don’t wait to see your doctor if you have the symptoms.
