Just FYI, that engine noise you heard in cabin is not real exhaust note. That was generated by a little speak behind the dash. It makes the engine sounds more "mean".

Excellent review! Too bad I am watching this AFTER I bought my GTI Autobahn. But I learned a bit about the performance, namely the acceleration numbers...0-60mph in under 6 seconds! Yes! That is the magic number I was hoping you would spew, and you did deliver! Again, awesome review!

Great review, glad you pointed out DSG faults and also the smaller 5.8" screen. Lighting package is a must with the Manual!

Love this car. Already driven it from San Diego to San Francisco and to Palm Springs, with 0 problems and it's fast, fun, practical and refined. Only possible complaint is the seats could be a _little_ more supportive.  I got the SE with lighting package which is better than the autobahn without lighting package IMO. The leather seats haven't been a problem at all and i've been in 90+ degree weather a lot in this. Tinting the windows and the white paint helped.

As for tech, if you wanted better 'appearing' tech, the overpriced (imo) audi's offer that. But it's mostly for show. And I'd rather use my phone for maps than car based navigation any day.

You should get up to speed on DSG and PDK transmissions. You stated S was for the track, it can be used for so much more it's a blast in curvy Mtn roads in S and all is the a DSG to its magic, you can control up and down shifts with taps to the accelerator and brake pedals, etc. nice review.
