During Intel’s CES 2022 keynote it announced the rest of its 12th Gen Alder Lake desktop lineup, expansion of the Evo certification program with larger, more powerful, and foldable laptops. Plus, Intel’s 12th Gen Alder Lake chips are making their way to laptops, promising its most powerful hardware that’s capable of taking on Apple’s new M1 Pro and M1 Max-powered MacBook Pros. Intel also announced it started shipping its first-generation Alchemist (Arc) GPUs to OEM customers for desktop and laptop systems.

They almost didn't mention battery life at all, which is weird considering the biggest change in Alder Lake CPUs is the new big.LITTLE architecture whose whole point is power efficiency.

Cool. More convoluted naming and products to get you even more confused and allow sellers to upsell lower end devices hiding a single letter to get you thinking its the same as the more powerful one.

Looking at the charts Intel shared for alder lake performance, it doesn't look like we'll see any major battery life improvements over 11th gen. Minimum power consumption is still the same as 11th gen. Best case is 20% more performance on battery with 12th gen vs 11th gen. Not bad, but nowhere close to M1 efficiency.

Why watch Cnet's in 10 minutes, when I can watch it in 4 and a half.

These startup companies are going to have a hell of a time catching up to Apple.

Intel make so many SKU that I got lost. AMD is so simple, small number of choices, simple to choose.

AMD is bringing 6000 series with 6nm architecture and 7000 series with 5nm. And Intel is talking about 5.5 Ghz to show people on the benchmarks that you see we are still faster. LoL so cliché

It looks promising, not sure which CPU I want in my next laptop tho lol. Can't wait to see what both AMD and Intel offer this year.

Steve Jobs and Apple have really warped technology press conferences. Every single thing is said like it's supposed to be some amazing breakthrough, which comes across as kind of arrogant and self-absorbed when you're announcing an amazing breakthrough, and is just grating and absurd when you're just saying that dell will use your new processor.

No regrets leaving the i9 for the M1 Max

From a fashion sense, Intel hits the mark on "your average IT uncle".

"Ghz" should be GHz, as Hertz is the unit, and it's from a person's name originally. It's amazing nobody caught it.

All you need to know is they didn't have a real update on dedicated GPUs. The entire consumer electronics industry was expecting they would announce board partners, specs, anything really. Oh the availability is now? What parts? What kind of performance? Telling us they are shipping to OEMs just means just go buy a Dell with no context on performance. Check out this Best Buy discount special with third rate parts and assembly and a dedicated GPU that should work. Game drivers? Nah maybe we'll update enough that you can get to the loading screen on your favorite titles. No promises. We won't talk about what consumers want to hear about. Now let me introduce you to this higher up that will put you to sleep talking about those dinosaur car companies. They're buying our car chip solution and one day maybe your car will have it! You will never know or care if the solution is in the model of car you drive. Let's spend 10 minutes talking about it. Intel needs help in the marketing department. They might have great solutions but their press coverage has had a rough half decade.
