I'm watching this, in Scotland, via my Starlink connection. It's absolutely amazing. Super fast and low latency internet access nearly everywhere on the planet. No wonder it's such a game changer for the Ukrainians.

I think the $10-$30 billion is the total cost of the entire Starlink product from development to fully deployed, not the cost of SpaceX's operations in Ukraine or related to the Ukraine war.

It's insanity, they declared that the internet is a Human right, forgetting how many people on this planet would be saved by a bowl of rice and a egg ...

I've had starlink for over a year in a location with no mobile service and totally beats the satellite broadband from the company i was using previously. Its a brilliant service from spacex wouldn't be without it

I'm a big fan of Elon. But sometimes he puts his foot in his mouth. However, when he is not being obnoxious, he has a good heart. Here are things he has done lately:
1) He donated $5.7 billion to UN food program during the pandemic to ease world hunger.
2) Provide free Starlink internet service for Ukraine worth hundreds of millions.
3) Help solve Australia's power crisis.
4) Help Flint Michigan waster crisis.
5) Provide solar power to Puerto Rico after 2017 hurricane.

I think Musk stated costs without profit runs about $20 million per month.

The cost of Starlink to Ukraine is nowhere near €10 billion

The closest competitor would be OneWeb, but I doubt they'll offer better price or service than Starlink.

If Ukraine can't pay the bill Elon should turn it off.

I'm still remember 2y ago when SpaceX start developing Starlink and many people laugh at them. Today Starlink went beyond just a service from private company, into necessity of life in Ukraine.

Great video. But I remain very skeptical whenever Media such as "Sky News" speak of how well Ukraine are doing in the war.

it's interesting that they're thousands of satellites instead of a few dozen like almost every other satellite system. very difficult and expensive to disable using the current anti satellite missiles.

Overall i have seen worse depictions, but the ideo still has some flaws: Most of all, the 10B$ talked about are for the entire network (at least not specifically for Ukraine), as is probably the "10B$ more over 6 months". Also, i believe it highly unlikely (and have not heard any such thing from SpaceX-related reliable sources) that orbits of Starlink satelites have actually (massively) been modified to get better coverage in Ukraine. And finaly the portion about Musks "steps into international politics" are essentially the core of the whole public debate at the moment, and the image painted here is very much layden with opinion and likely agenda - it neither matches the publicly known facts (pretty little, essentially the text of the tweets), nor Musks public comments about his intentions nor the personality traits i have seen from Musk so far. I would find a debate between Musk and your guest about military history pretty interesting, and i would not bet on your expert ;-)

Seem to remember this as a Microsoft proposal when I was working for a Military Industrial microwave component communications company back in the late 1990s. But instead of using microwave ferrite isolators/circulator it would have needed the GaN technology transistor rather than GaAs then being used in RADAR AESA modules.
Starlink will off course have other Alien Influenced tech as described by William Pawelec in his Youtube Video.
