Would be great if the FSM editor had a drag and drop feature. This new engine really looks amazing. Really hope Crytek rise to their previous heights. The gaming industry needs them.

8:34 It had support for both FMOD and Audiokinetic Wwise (Hunt Showdown used Wwise).

Please Crytek make a new UI system and you have me switching to CE.

Wow. And it's only asking for 5% royalty like Unreal Engine?
My problem with Unreal is that the download / install through the launcher is a nightmare. If Cry offers alternative ways to download their engine or a stronger launcher, it may be worth it for some people to switch.

Hahaha I must be weird. The old Cryengine 3.6 or whatever was just so easy for me to learn in. Everything I made on my channel was basically just mucking about on the weekend with no real tutorial viewings. This one however is just so alien to me.

When you clicked on the "Empty entity" element there was a toolbal button on the right "Create object", maybe you need to click that. Yeah a bit strange logic.
I think the engine is good as an all-in-one solution, you basically have modern rendering, physics, AI, etc without having to buy anything else like in Unity (for more complex projects) or too much customization options in UE (disorienting for medium/small games).

Maybe they need to be a more aggressive in attracting more indie, smaller projects because for that price the AA developers go usually with Unreal (same price, more people knowing that engine), independent would likely use an alternative if a bit convenient (you'll have to learn how it works but at least you pay a bit less and have competing features to bigger teams). Also having Switch support would be a plus, but maybe too much stuff rendering wise is too heavy for that console and they post-poned the porting.
Never played Hunt: Showdown (only watched some alpha footage at the time, already impressive) but Prey 2017 works quite good (fast loading, good looking) so i hope more people will use this engine, Crytek please spread more into the market with smarter choices ;)

It's super nice to hear/see CryEngine implements Behaviour Trees, in Unreal Engine 4 it's a really great feature to have a good working AI actor. If you look on YouTube, you can even see people doing pet mechanics in them ;)
Hope for some nice tutorials and the ray-tracing from neo-noir demo implemented ASAP. Would then consider moving to CryEngine.

What I dislike about CryEngine:
1. One of the few engines with no mobile support. First in spring 2020 with 5.7
2. No C# AI. In general C# improvement is ignored
3. Old deprecated Adobe tools for making UI.
4. Mannequin system is far from user-friendly.

I started out with Cryengine with zero game engine experience, But abandoned it because they didn't seem interested in supporting VR which I had just picked up a DK2 . Switched to UE4 Who supported VR right away, and learned so much that I could never return to Cryengine, The only thing I miss is the water

What's wrong with the anti-aliasing ? Isn't it temporal ?

Looks really bad, even in their raytracing demo.
UE4's AA is so flawless.

Schematic last time I checked was very interesting, I recommend digging it :) I hope one day Cryengine Consider Mobile games too! and make the exporting system easier! last time I checked you had do write codes to export your game to PC or consoles! or your only could play from the editor!

Hey Mike, What is cry engines marketplace like? And is schematics like blueprints in unreal?

-Shit about making chains and stuff is good. Unreal needs this
-Component systems suck.
-Having c# is good
-Licencing is probably still North Korea level
-Lack of assets.
Not a competitor to Unreal Engine at the moment, but a good opportunity for asset makers to enter a relatively small marketplace with little competition
