That Unity migration guide is an attention grabber. Might just have a look over the weekend. Thanks for your updates.

That Twin Peaks reference with the Log Lady makes me want to use it alone.

What about exporter? Do we still need to use WAF and similar to get a damn .exe? Or they finally opted for a more common system like Unity, Unreal and Godot without meeting to open VS or use strange build system

I tried cryengine before but my problem was that with the FBX importer I could only get the mesh over, not any textures from Blender, probably because of cryengine designed only to work with Maya and 3D Studio and using a really strange internal format for textures and similar things that Blender could not export properly to when exporting to FBX. When I tried the CryBlend plugin It just gave me errors so gave up on Cryengine but maybee time to see if they have fixed this now cause I really want to try this one out as well. Already use both Unity and Unreal and started to get into them.

I hope they start supporting mobile and 2D games too! and more friendly license! I love to work with it someday! oh Linux support too! :D

My biggest problem with cryengine is its lack of an linux editor. On the other hand, the linux editor of Unity isn't that great.

Scripting language UI looks... Anyways When to use Cryengine or unrealEngine. Any advantage over each other?

Same as @PukkaFactor. I had been with CE since modding days (yeah I am that old). This engine did nothing but wasted my youth years which could have been better spent with other available engines making actual games . Avoid at all costs.

So Entity component system in cryengine is the same type as from unity(not mono behavior). Systems run on Entities with a set of comments rather than logic in each component in cryengine. Can't do oop for big projects, codebase just becomes a nightmares.

I started game dev with UE4 then switched to Unity, now this :D
THE TEMPTATION is uuurghh : (
Honestly I need RTX support in Unity to make some stunning demos ( Artwise )
I love UE4 material editor, but can't stand blueprints.
C++ was a pain in the ass.

Let's not forget the Free / 5% Royalties flip flop. Crytek should just MIT this and put up a Patreon. Lmao!

**waiting music for someone to make a well designed hot reloading dynamic generic moddable modular data oriented game engine without visual scripting for free that prioritizes gameplay and performance over graphics**

Why is this in my YouTube recommendation

I think it's very important to be aware that CryEngine is *currently suing a developer that stopped using them for switching engine*, by torturing contract language in ways it was clearly not intended to be interpreted. You have to be aware that if you decide to start in CryEngine you're binding yourself to a vindictive litigious company.

It's Crytek. Expect to be disappointed somewhere down the development road. I was part of the modding community from the beginning as well as Cryengine SaaS. Their support for their community has been dismal to say the least and in that respect they are always playing catch-up at best. They are totally unreliable. They will abandon, ignore disappear... come back, kiss you...apologies and promise to never leave you...change their mind and screw you over. There is a reason why there are not many games published with this engine compared to Unreal and Unity. Avoid
