In 1954 I seen the movie and its still my favorite, the music is wonderful and Anton Karas has his Harry Lime Theme played to this day by many guitarists around the world. The scene of Orson Wells caught by the light in the doorway is so memorable, if the movie was in color it would never be the same, black and white really makes it. Thanks for your work and photography it is great and I imagine a lot of work to complete.

It's so cool to see how the places in the movie 60 years later. They barely changed.

My most favorite movie of the period. When in Vienna you must go on the Harry Lime walking tour.

Thanks. Part 2 features Prater Park, among other locations. Unfortunately, at least for the moment, Part 2 has been taken down (inappropriately, I believe).

Yes. Vienna (at least this part of Vienna) is remarkably clean these days.

First adult movie I saw as a child of 9. I will never forget its impact on me - the dilemma faced by Holly having to kill his "friend" made me cry - despite the fact that I knew Harry was "bad". Since then I still think it IS the most fantastic movie the music is so beautiful!

I prefer to forget this whole lot. It still haunts me.

Is it possible that the film improves with each viewing ?   YES

This is what cinema is all about

The square is still there, but the kiosk isn't located there. The kiosk was put there just for the movie.

The last scene in the original (Anna walking down an alley) was taken in Zentralfriedhof. The "now" scene shows Praterallee. A rather different venue, one might think ... Fascinating juxtapositions nevertheless.

Hello Terry Fein

On Nov2, We watched "The Third Man" in full movie. dubbed in Japanese

The original conversation in your digest   and the Japanese one is much different.

For example, the guardman, who's communication skill is quite good

in the original he only speak German, such as when he replies Holy Martins,

heard(I have'nt seen but I've heard the noise) in Original, but

in Japenese version, he said " I' ve heard the noise but I've never seen the sight)

very fluently. He spoke perfect dialogue and replied to Martins in perfect phrases.

On the last scene, Major Galloway speaks to Martins in a Jeep, who passed through

Anna who is walking along the avenue.

Be sensitive, but in Japanese translation,  be kind to her.

Be sensitive means  " Consider your standpoint or your current situation and behave considerably to her"

Be kind in Japanese is not fit the phrase, I think.

Anyhow, We enjoyed Japanese version but

I would like to watch "The Third Man" in original English version next time.
