In a speech on welfare changes, Rishi Sunak has said the UK has to change a 'sicknote culture' in which people take long-term leave from work. The prime minister announced fresh curbs on disability benefits, saying he wanted to explore whether some cash payments to claimants with mental health conditions could be replaced by treatment or access to services. 'We don't just need to change the sicknote, we need to change the sicknote culture so that the default becomes what work you can do, not what you can't,' said Sunak

Poverty is the mother of necessity; the comfort of the rich, depends upon an abundant supply of the poor.

I think he gets his policies from "The Sun" newspaper. I'm not sure.. attacking disabled people isn't really a vote winner with me.

If people can't legitimately work, and benefits are cut/stopped, won't this lead to more homelessness? And potentially more crime? Then we have a bigger issue to handle.

A completely disconnect, unqualified, pampered billionaire who is nothing but a blight upon the society whose interests he is meant to represent. The sooner he is forced out of office the better!

I work full-time as a Mental Health Nurse, I suffer from 'recurrent depressive disorder'. Sort out the disability act so I'm not threatened with stages in the absence policy

27 years ago, I was finished up in my work because of severe trauma, years of violence in the area of my work, culminating in creditable death threats made by a group of people who had been involved in deaths and drug dealing. My work Psychiatrist said I couldn't continue to work, and they didn't say that without major justification, thank goodness I had some insurance, because they also agreed that I could no longer work and paid just enough that I could manage to keep a roof over my head, but while I fought a hard (after two years a winning battle) against my illness and got myself back into work, I reluctantly applied for disability allowance, after a 15 minute interview they said I had no grounds at all for disability allowance. AND THIS WAS 27 YEARS AGO!!! I had no personal resources or will left to fight the decision, there must be many thousands of people in the same boat, and the Billionaire tax avoider wants to target a miniscule amount of benefits savings to buy a few votes. Anyone remember how much Truss cost you and I, and how long we will be paying it back? Party of fiscal responsibility my armpit. Rant over.

My daughter has her own business so she can rest up when having severe anxiety attacks.
It’s no joke! She’s incapable of even going out of the door.

I agree that there are too many people on the sick but while you're spending, what is it? 15 million a day on migrants? Then how dare you say you British people can't get a measley amount of sick pay!
Sort that out first!
