We all know the Roman Empire for war and conquest, and at the heart of its power stood (after the Republic fell) the Emperor as its head. Many of them are easily recognisable today for their achievements – be those conquests, building programmes or feeding the poor. However, some of the Caesars were tyrants and we associate them with cruelty or for the madness or their rule – including Commodus (The gladiator emperor!).

You may have the correct pronunciation for his name but it’s not the accepted term that everybody uses . That’s why the minute I heard you say his name that way I paused the video and decided to tell you why I won’t be watching it because hearing you say his name outside the accepted norm is odd and off putting.
