Sonic Colors: Ultimate Review - The Final Verdict

The remastering is very clearly nowhere close to the more thorough facelifts we have seen in other similar platform re-releases; for example, this is nowhere close to the overhaul that Crash or Spyro saw with the N.Sane or Reignited trilogy releases. The game’s Wii roots are especially clear and apparent in cutscenes. However, the art style is strong, and that, along with a bump up to 60fps for the frame rate, helps keep the game look pleasant to look at. While it’s undeniable it could have looked even better, it’s still a pretty good looking game, that passes muster and scrutiny, if not as triumphantly as it otherwise could have.

That’s really the case with Sonic Colors as a whole - while its reputation may lead you to expect an all time great platform, it’s really not that. It is very good, mind you, and it’s compelling and engaging and probably the most smartly designed 3D Sonic game we have ever received. All of that alone makes it worth playing, particularly since Colors is without question the best implementation of the so called “boost” formula as well. The stumbles and blemishes that come along the way, well, that’s just part and parcel of being a Sonic fan at this point. Embrace them, and enjoy Dr. Eggman’s Wild Ride.

This might be one of the worst game reviews I've seen yet. Good job. A positive review ended up as bad because you couldn't focus on the game - your only priority was "SONIC'S SUCKED SINCE HE MADE THE TRANSITION INTO 3D" - Wow, I'm so surprised a professional critic said this. Incredible. You're so amazing at your job.

I watched the whole review. Pramath Parijat spent more time complaining about the franchise than he did actually reviewing the game, calling into questions Sonic games that are irrelevant to Sonic Colors Ultimate for the sake of using the franchise as a punching bag. And like every other comment has mentioned, dived into common cliches that display how little care was given towards reviewing this game.
Not just that, but his recorded gameplay footage even shows that just playing the game is a struggle for him, which makes me doubt that he was the right pick to review the game.

It's not the score at the end that I disagree with, it's the method of reviewing that shows that despite being given a review code, despite the publication paying the reviewer for this piece, there was no care put into the review.
Not to say that the whole review is worthless, just that it spent too much time on things it had no business talking about.

Sonic Adventure 1, 2, Generations and to a lesser extent Heroes and Unleashed. I'd argue more modern Sonic games have been average/good to downright great than bad. But you do you fella.

just a reminder if you ever review another sonic game:
1-don't start with the whole sonic hasn't been good since he transitioned to 3D because no one will take you seriously because you expose yourself as being completely ignorant about the franchise and have no idea what you are talking about and it’s just objectively wrong.
2- sonic 06 came out 15 years ago, move on, is not even a good argument about the state of the franchise anymore, by bringing up that game you only embarrass yourself as a reviewer and hurt your reputation as a believable source
