They were "undesirables and failures" that could not be killed right away. Even back then how hard is it to escape suspicion if you had to imprison or hide someone away in secret?

This sort of thing was happening all over the western world. Not just with disabilities, but also to people with mental health conditions. It’s not exclusive to the Royal family. Unfortunately everyone treated people like this back in those days, That’s why people talk about asylums in the same way.. But if the Royal family and Queen Elizabeth did know then they should have at least tried to give their own family members a better quality of life, with all their wealth and privilege they could have done s. But I find it more appalling that their father did that to them, rather than the aunts and cousins.

So charity should take care of her family... other common folk should give up there earnings to a charity when she herself had plenty of cash to take care of family obligations.

talk about out of sight out of mind and I'm queen would have known SHE IS THE QUEEN! For heaven's sake! The queen mother was desperate to be queen one way or another. She apparently 7 years before her husband took the thrown wrote a letter to someone stating WHY her and husband would be better suited to rule than the one who abducated with Wallis! The queen mother could be compared to Kate and Kate's mum OBSESSED with being royal and being a princess or queen. And just like Kate and mum Elizabeth bows Lyon got her way. Apparently she initially declined the marriage proposal but must have even accepted this based on what she could become. In pictures she always lucks soo proud of herself swaggering about. The women was clearly not the sweet old grandmother that everyone was bedazzled to believe.

Maybe read some more articles before commenting. They are not related to the RF only the Queen Mother by marriage. Nothing whatsoever to do with the Queen but the family of a Scottish Earl. Their father had died years before and in 1941 during the War when staff will have been difficult to find, their grandfather put them in this fairly new hospital. £125 not an insignificant sum in those days is equivalent in purchasing power to about £8, 073.39 today. All five girls needed looking after and their grandfather will have been thinking of their future. The hereditary fault was far removed from the RF / Bowes Lyon lines. It was from the wife of John Bowes Lyon and her sister.
