This wouldn't even be a question if we had had the opportunity to prosecute Nixon after he left office. Also, because Ford had to issue a pardon for the criminal Nixon, that shows that his guilt was recognized and would have been prosecuted if not pardoned. No president is anything other than a citizen who the people temporarily gives the authority of that office to act in accordance with the Constitution and the laws of the land. It gives no privilege to violate either and certainly means if such is broken, that citizen will be held accountable through the courts.
