The best thing about this video, is that he play clean sounds, all Gibson SG videos is all with a lot of distortion and heavy riffs, and the sg have such a nice clean sound

Thank you for not playing AC/DC just because it's an SG.
Also... I would like to thank you again for not playing AC/DC just because it's an SG.

The Epiphone's for a musician, the Gibson's for a banker

A fully-upgraded Epiphone is STILL the best value for the money compared to a store-bought Gibson in the SG department these days. Besides, overhyped brand names don't do much for me anymore. Manufacturing technology's gotten so that even budget-level offerings are being produced at a higher quality than in years past and when the middle man's finally taken out of the equation, you start to realize how much you can end up saving in the long run and it's SUBSTANTIAL! Merely my 2 cents, of course...

Gibson pickups sound a bit more transparent, i think its just a pickup thing, Epi sound can be "fixed" with an upgrade

the epi is much better somehow! idk what it is, it sounds like the notes just have more soul or fullness in them on the epi. maybe it has better resonance or something i dont know.

Change pickups ‘57 classics and add premium Grover locking tuners and the epiphone will stand toe to toe

Epi sounds good, Gibson is sparkly and way more defined.

The bridge pickup on the solo at the end was night and day.. Hankering after an SG, had one years ago.. Might be doing a trade somewhere soon..

The probucker pickup sounded a bit muddy to my ears..But its a great guitar and worth the money..

My goodness the Gibson sounds bloody fantastic on the example you played at 4:27, in particular, the rhythm opening with that stunning B power chord!!, perhaps going through that vintage Marshall. Is that any particular song? I've had my Epiphone SG Standard left hand for two weeks and loving it. As my other guitar is a LH Rickenbacker 330, the obvious choice of amp I used is an AC30, nice with the SG too. Great upload.

Modified Epiphones work well if you aren’t trying to baby a Gibson

Great video and playing! What’s the riff/song you looped at the end?

The Epi is getting closer but you really feel the Difference in the neck. I would say you could upgrade her but the cost of the guitar is $500- so $ 300 p/u's $100 wiring harness n locking tuners $80. So @ a grand it's not worth bothering with because by Year's end the Gibson Standard is around $1200. The epiphone is a good value for a beginner or if your wallet's light.

The specs on a 2019 epiphone exclusive deluxe limited run Sg Pro honey burst.... found one on the used market in 2022 and paid $650.00 for it and worth every
Classic 60s Era "Solid Guitar"
The G-400 Deluxe PRO is inspired by the first generation of SGs made in the 1960s at the legendary Gibson and Epiphone factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan that produced the Les Paul and the Casino. The SG model was originally intended to replace the Les Paul, which temporarily went out of production from 1961-1968. The new G-400 Deluxe PRO is constructed using the same dimensions and build techniques as vintage SGs and features a AAA Flame Maple Veneer top with a Mahogany body and neck with a comfortable 1960's SlimTaper 'D' profile and a 24.75" scale length. The Pau Ferro fingerboard has single ply binding with pearloid Trapezoid inlays, 22 medium jumbo frets, a 12" radius, and an adjustable truss rod with a 'bell' cover.

Alnico Classic PRO Humbuckers with Coil Splitting
The G-400 Deluxe PRO is powered by Alnico Classic PRO humbuckers made with Alnico-V magnets, which produce a slightly higher output especially in the mid and highs. Each pickup has it own Volume and Tone control with full-size potentiometers along with Epiphone's rugged, all-metal, 3-way toggle pickup selector switch for long-lasting performance. Both pickups are also wired for coil-tapping. By pulling up the pickup's volume knob, the humbucker will switch become a "single-coil" pickup, allowing players an infinite variety of tones from single-coil bark to full humbucker bite.

When winding humbuckers, Epiphone utilizes a double vacuum waxing process that ensures quiet operation free from microphonic hum. The pickup is first placed in the specialized wax vacuuming system before the cover is placed on the unit to ensure that the wax fully penetrates to the very center of the pickup and solidifies all parts. After the cover is placed on, it is again given a second vacuum wax bath until the unit is completely saturated with wax. Epiphone also uses high quality ABS plastic bobbins, 1010 Cold Rolled Steel pole shoes and pole screws, the finest magnet wire available.

Solid Epiphone Hardware
The G-400 Deluxe PRO features gold hardware on the Honeyburst, Trans Blue, and Trans Red color finishes and all G-400 Deluxe PROs come with a LockTone bridge and Stopbar tailpiece for incredible sustain as well as Wilkinson Vintage Classic Machine Heads with a 18:1 turning ratio.

I for myself dont understand why so many prefer the Epi.. It sounds muddier and cheaper.. The Gibson will work a thousand times better in a Band mix.. The Epi is a great guitar for the buck though!
